7th Grade ACTS Newsletter

December 15th - 18th

Science - Mrs. Sexton

We will have a quiz on cell parts Tuesday or Wednesday. Students already have the notes for this quiz and may visit the website for Cells Alive to get more information. After Christmas break we will continue our study of cells and genetics.

ELA - Mrs. Templeton

The students are reading A Christmas Carol readers theater style. Quizzes will be given at the end of each Stave. A test will be given at the end of the unit. We will continue this through the end of the nine weeks. We will continue to write our companion books on the novel of their choice. No vocabulary test this week.

Math - Mr. Smith

7th grade math students are working in chapter 7 learning how to solve multi-step equations and use equations to model real-life problems. We will not complete the entire chapter before Christmas break, but we will have a test on the material we do complete on Wednesday next week. (December 17th).


Additionally as we are drawing to the close of the 9-weeks, students will have a cumulative test on chapters 5, 6 & 7 shortly after returning from break. I anticipate this will occur around January 9th. I will post a practice test on line at my website before Christmas break.

Drama - Mrs. Keenan

In Drama, students researched William Shakespeare and created their own informative cubes with facts on all sides. Some information they looked up were phrases that Shakespeare coined that we still use today, plays he wrote, and the Elizabethan time period.

Art - Mr. Winchester

7th Rotation will finish up with 3D clay postcards and paint them next week to be able to take them home before Christmas.

7th FOCUS will continue to work on dictionary illustrations using chalk pastels as their primary media.

Dance - Mrs. Brewington

7th Rotation: We will watch the Nutcracker and compare contrast the New York City ballet version with the version we saw live in Greenville. Encourage your child to check for class updates, video clips, and worksheets on google classroom. After Christmas we will begin our unit on Bob Fosse and musical theatre.

Math - Mrs. McDaniel

We will be finishing up our Chapter 6 test if needed and touch on Chapter 7 inequalities before the Christmas break.

Science - Mrs. Griffin

The students will finish unit on chemistry. They will also complete the Mid-term on Wednesday. They should complete the study guide on my website.

ELA & Social Studies - Mrs. Padgett

Seventh grade Social Studies will be continuing their study of European and American imperialism.

Seventh grade ELA will be continuing their companion books on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. They will also be studying stem word list 15.

Social Studies - Mrs. Babb

Students presented I Movies they created on the leaders who unified Europe and those who lead revolutions for freedom in Latin America. They did a great job on this project!

We are currently finishing that part of the unit on Revolutions and will test on Wednesday.
