The First Nuclear Bomb

On July 16,1945 the first Nuclear bomb whent off in Alamogrodo, New Mexico. The bomb was codenamed "Trinity." The flash of light from the nuclear bomb was brighter than any human had ever wittnessed. The project to devlop the nuclear bomb was called the manhatten project. The project for the Soviet Union atom bomb was called the Soviet Bomb Project

Duck and Cover was a film put out by the United States Goverment to help warn and protect the citizens from the dangers of the atom bomb. It told the citizens to Duck and Cover near the nearest wall once you saw the bright falsh of the Atom Bomb

Fallout Shelters

During the Cold War the United States Goverment prepared hundreds of Fallout Shelters In Washington DC. If Washington DC was a primary target in a a nuclear attack the fallout shelters would not protect the residents.
