Important Information for You!
Holidays are Here
The holiday season is official upon us and with it comes excitement and sometimes anxiety and stress. Please remember that we are working with little ones and we need to be creative in the ways that we deal with the excitement without squashing it or causing anxiety. If you do have a student who seems to be having a hard time, please reach out to Jason. Also, if you hear of a family that may have fallen on hard times or has a specific hardship, please let me know so we can help in anyway we can or direct them to someone who can. This year we have four full weeks until winter break, so stay strong, keep routines in place, but have fun too!
Cool to Care!
This is our last full week of Cool to Care and while we have already collected over 1,300 items, we are still a long way away from our school goal of 3,600 items. We will be putting out a Cool to Care letter from the office this week, but it is what you do in the classroom that really gets the items brought in. Thank you in advance for all that you are doing to help promote the community campaign in your classroom! At the end of this week, you will be asked to update the Google Doc that Anna Wojo sent out earlier this week.
Also, don't forget about our special building jean day tomorrow, Monday, November 26th. For $5 you can wear jeans, for $15 you can wear jeans and get a jean coupon, and for $20 you can wear jeans and get two jean coupons. Jean coupons can be kept for yourself or given as a gift. Any money collected on Monday will be divided equally between our holiday families and Cool to Care.
5D+
This week I will be finishing up the first round of observations and begin on round two. Thank you for responding to noticing and wonderings within 48 hours. When I am in to do your observation, I will look for lesson plans on your desk. If I do not see them I won't interrupt, you will be asked to provide a copy to me. I have loved being in your classrooms and look forward to continuing to see the growth in our teaching and the learning of the students.
Cardinal Code Focus for the Week: Assemblies
This week take some time to intentionally review the Cardinal Code expectations for Assemblies or guest in the classroom. For assemblies, I will use the Give Me 5/Countdown strategy to the students attention. Additionally, while our students have been well behaved during assemblies, it is important for the students to understand how an audience is supposed to act especially in a large group. Thank you for intentionally teaching the Cardinal Code to your students.
Literacy Essential 1: Putting it into Practice
Last week, I asked you to review the bullets that have been reviewed in depth in the weekly newsletters. Since this is a PLC week, I would like you to make a commitment in your PLC as to what specifically literacy essential bullet you are focused on implementing with fidelity in your classroom. I would like the PLC Team Leaders to compile a list and share it with me on the Google Doc I will be sharing. By committing to your PLC team, you are making your commitment known and are therefore more likely to stay committed to actually changing your classroom practice. You will notice I am asking for you to commit to just one bullet right now, this is because there is so much to these and I want to be sure we are implementing them fully. You may choose something from Essential 1 or from the Essential you worked on during our PD prior to Intersession. I look forward to seeing what you are working on.
