Junior Individual Student Meetings

This quarter we met with each 11th grade student to discuss the following:


  • Post-secondary plans (researching and applying to college, searching careers & majors, and any other post-secondary career and/or college interests)
  • College Entrance Exams (and how to prepare for them)
  • College Fairs (and how to get the most out of them!)
  • Junior & Senior Year Timelines
  • Start developing plan for senior year

9th grade individual student meetings

This quarter we met with each 9th grade student to discuss the following:


  • Transition to high school, transition to Eno River Academy if applicable.
  • Review academic progress in 1st semester courses
  • Goal Setting--short term & long term
  • Involvement in school and/or community
  • Connections with staff at Eno River Academy

Classroom Guidance Lessons & Advisory

This quarter we had lessons that included the following topics:


  • Introduction to School Counselor
  • 9th--Growth Mindset; Fixed vs. Growth Mindset thinking
  • 10th--Graduation, GPA, and more; Conflict Resolution
  • 11th--SAT vs. ACT and College Fair; Post-secondary planning

Small Group Sessions for new Juniors

Met with new juniors to make sure all have CFNC accounts, have taken the Career Key Assessment, and know/understand their Myers Briggs Type Indicator. These are great tools for career and college exploration. Our juniors from last year already completed these activities.

All students invited to meet with US Air Force Recruiter

We had 12 students sign up to hear from our local US Air Force Recruiter. Some of these students have an interest in the Air Force Academy, enlisting in Air Force, and some just wanted to learn more about post-secondary options. Here is our local US Air Force recruiter information:

2nd Quarter Agenda Books Available

We gave out 1st Quarter Agendas to all high school students to assist with organization and planning. However, we realize that many students may be using their own paper or electronic planners. So, any student who needs or wants an Agenda for 2nd Quarter can pick it up at the main office.

October 25th--PSAT at Voyager Academy (11th grade students who signed up)

Individual Meetings with Sophomore students will be held during 2nd Quarter

Career Day 2017

November 21, 2017

Students will sign up to attend 3 different career presentations. Each presentation will last 20 minutes. We will have many different options so students can explore a variety of careers. We will have speakers for 7th and 8th grades as well as 9th-11th grades!
