SOLEDAD HIGH SCHOOL TOP 10 SCHOLARS 2020
Soledad High School NJOTC Earns Distinguished Unit Award
The Navy just released the Distinguished Unit and Unit Achievement Awards. Soledad falls under the Northwestern region (NoCal, NV, ID, UT, WY, OR, WA, AK, HI, Guam, Japan DoD schools). For the third year in a row, Soledad has earned the Distinguished Unit Award. This is the highest award a NJROTC program can achieve. I want to remind everyone that this is a cadet run program. The naval science instructors educate them to develop a leadership mentality, attention to detail, and problem solving skill set. This school year, our cadets worked as a team, practiced long hours for competition, helped one another academically, and contributed over 5,000 community service hours.
Soledad NJROTC has been with the high school since 2001. Here is our program's success by school year:
2006-Most Improved Unit
2007-Unit Achievement
2015-Unit Achievement
2016-Unit Achievement
2017-Unit Achievement
2018-Distinguished Unit
2019-Distinguished Unit w/Academic Honors
2020-Distinguished Unit.
By earning the Distinguished Unit award, Soledad HS has the privilege to nominate a worthy senior to apply for the Naval Academy at Annapolis MD or apply for an ROTC scholarship. Great things happening in Soledad!
