7TH AND 8TH GRADE OPEN HOUSE - MONDAY, 8/27 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE OPEN HOUSE - MONDAY, 8/27 6:00-7:30
We will host our annual Seventh and Eighth Grade Open House on Monday, August 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Haggard. We will start our program in the cafeteria promptly at 6:00 with some welcoming comments and introductions, share the evening's agenda/schedule, and then invite parents to visit classrooms on an abbreviated bell schedule so there is time to visit each class period, meet each teacher, and learn more about each course your child is taking this year. Please mark your calendar... we hope see all of our 7th and 8th grade families at Open House!
(Please note: Haggard hosted Sixth Grade Open House on Thursday, 8/9 so our 6th grade teachers will not be in attendance at 7th and 8th grade Open House on Monday, 8/27)
Student Arrival/Dismissal Times
Student Arrival/Dismissal Times:
We are here at Haggard to welcome our students each morning as early as 7:45 a.m. and will safely supervise them after school until 4:00 p.m. You may drop off your child beginning at 7:45 at our east entrance (facing Westside Drive) or after 8:00 a.m. at our west entrance (facing Independence). Students entering our building anytime before 8:20 a.m. will be directed to their designated grade level area - 6th graders to our small gym and 7th/8th graders to our cafeteria - to wait until the 8:20 release bell to visit their lockers and arrive in their 1st period class by the 8:30 bell.
Any 6th grader having breakfast at school is welcome to stop by the cafeteria for breakfast before proceeding to the small gym to wait with their classmates until the 8:20 release bell.
All students are dismissed at 3:30 and expected to be safely off campus by 4:00 p.m. when our staff completes supervision for the day. Any student still on campus after 4:00 will be asked to call a parent to make transportation arrangements.
We appreciate your help and support to keep our Eagles safe!
News from our Haggard PTA
Support your child and help your school. www.joinpta.org
Anyone can be a member of Haggard PTA. PTA Memberships are just $12/voting member. We encourage you to make any additional generous donation to Haggard PTA in support of our programming and scholastic activities through our Write –A-Check campaign. Dues and Donations made to PTA are fully tax-deductible.
What it means to join the Haggard PTA:
When you join the Haggard PTA, you join a community that encourages student achievement and believes in building partnerships between families and school. Membership has many benefits, including the following:
· You will send a clear message to your child that you value education and that you will do everything you can to help them realize their full potential.
· You will now be a member of Texas PTA. The more members of Texas PTA there are, the more our legislators in Austin listen when Texas PTA urges them to do the right things for Texas students.
· You have a voice in how the PTA prioritizes its goals and spends its limited resources. Only members can vote and hold a PTA office.
· You get access to member-only sections of the Texas and National PTA's websites and get to take advantage of some great discounts at Enterprise, Nationwide Insurance, and T-Mobile.
What it DOES NOT mean when you join the Haggard PTA:
Joining the Haggard PTA does not mean that you have promised to volunteer at Haggard. Yes, we need parents to help with events, but members are not required to meet any kind of volunteer hours commitment. So don't let your busy schedule keep you from being a Haggard PTA member! www.joinpta.org

UPDATES and REMINDERS
Don't forget to check out our PISD Dress Code to make sure your Eagle is looking great for the start of school! The link to our district dress code is: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/1756
Every Haggard student has been assigned a locker to safely secure their belongings and minimize bulk and baggage while in class and also traveling throughout our campus. Small purses and lunchboxes are permitted in classes but backpacks or other large bags (including drawstring bags and anything large enough to store a textbook) quickly become heavy and present safety hazards in our classrooms. Please help us keep our Eagles healthy and safe by reminding them to keep bags and backpacks in their lockers during instruction. Thank you for your help with this important safety measure!
