JANUARY 8, 2021
Happy New Year, Tubman Family! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones.
We welcomed back our scholars on Monday, January 4th! I hope they are rediscovering their routines. Our teachers presented our scholars with a Relaunch 2021 presentation to revisit our scholars' norms and expectations. I want to thank our counselors, Ms. Loewen and Ms. Drew, and our media specialist, Ms. Boldman, to design and create the presentation.
We are winding down to the completion of the 1st semester. The last day of the 1st semester/quarter 2 is Thursday, January 28th, and the second semester, quarter 3, begins Monday, February 1st. If you have any questions about your scholar's progress, please contact their teachers.
Tubman Family, within our first full week of the year 2021, there was an event that transpired on Wednesday, January 6th, at our nation's Capitol. No matter your political affiliation, it did spawn conversations among adults and children. Our illustrious, caring teachers engaged in conversations with our scholars if they so desired. Conversations were facilitated by our teachers and led by our scholars. This was a time for them to develop their critical thinking, collaborative, and communication skills. If you deem your scholar needing assistance with their emotions, please contact our counselors, Ms. Loewen and Ms. Drew. They are here to assist. If you need assistance for yourself or would like resources to have a conversation with your scholar, please email me for resources.
REOPENING OF SCHOOLS
Parents, over the break on December 23rd, Governor Brown announced that the re-opening of schools would be the responsibility of the school district. This week you received correspondence from the school district mentioning possible re-entry to schools. As of this time, I have not received any definitive dates or plans of re-entry for staff or scholars. You will be notified with updates as information is shared with me.

Scholars and Staff Collaborating and Planning
We all collaborated and developed an agenda for our upcoming scholar assembly scheduled for Friday, January 15th, on Dr. King's birthday. I want to say our future is in great hands. I felt like a proud papa listening to the scholar leaders' ideas and observing their collaboration skills with their peers and staff.
I want to give a shout-out to the staff serving on this committee: Mr. Longo, Ms. MD, Mr. Alberti, Ms. Takacs, Mr. Chu, Ms. Ekberg, Ms. Boldman, Ms. Werts, and Mr. Stone. An honorable mention to Ms. Loewen. She was not able to attend due to a conflict with schedules. Thank you, everyone!
