Capturing Hearts- One Book at a Time!
Building a Reading Culture
In order to create a reading culture, a school needs a concerted effort and buy-in of all staff members.
To develop a culture of reading:
We talk about books.
We let kids talk about books.
We invest time in learning about the reading habits and lives of our students.
We share our reading lives with students.
We share book recommendations with each other.
We match students with books that are a good fit.
We celebrate books and readers.
We take risks.
We consider how the physical environment plays a vital role in nurturing learning.
We put books in the hands of students in numerous ways.
We read.
