June 2021
A letter from our Assistant Principal
Hello HOA Families!
We made it to June! What a wild ride. It feels like we can see the “light at the end of the tunnel” and things are slowly starting to get back to normal... Just in time for summer vacation! All of us at HOA want you to know how much we appreciate you joining us this year. Whether it was because of Covid, or you wanted to try a new learning style; you showed up, went for it, and you made it!
*We want to give all of you parents a special shout out and a round of applause for making it through this year. You did it! You made it! The finish line is in sight! It wasn't always easy, and it may have not felt pretty, but you DID IT. Way to go!*
We know things were crazy at the beginning of the year. We grew 1000% in enrollment. ONE. THOUSAND. What?! We were so lucky to have such amazing staff and parents that patiently worked out all the “kinks” and provided a highly flexible, engaging curriculum to all of our students. We know that the online learning platform is not for all students, however, we have seen so many students grow and thrive in this environment. It’s also proven to be really great for families that have non-traditional schedules. Our goal for next year is to go back to what HOA was before Covid. We will have opportunities for “in person” learning with your teacher, or small groups, along with on-site PE, clubs and field trips for socializing opportunities. If you would like to remain at HOA next year, please make sure you have filled out the transfer form. For those of you moving on to your home schools, thanks for joining us and we welcome you back anytime. Please enjoy a safe and fun-filled summer (after June 17th)!
Sincerely,
Shannon Freudenthal
Assistant Principal, HOA
Character Trait of the Month: Courage!
Courage is having mental, or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
How can you be courageous this summer? Maybe it's asking if you new neighbor wants to play. Or, maybe it's trying out for that team sport that you're not sure if you'll make. Do you know what else courage is? It's trying something new and failing. But you don't stop there! You get up and try again. Failures don't stop us. They build our character. Having courage to persevere and try again is a very important strength that will serve you for the rest of your life! Whatever you set your sights on this summer, do it with COURAGE!
Spirit Day is coming! Join us on Monday the 14th for a Sit and Snuggle with your Stuffy during your Morning Meeting !
Come celebrate the end of the year with a drive-thru celebration with a special gift bag from your teachers!
K-2 will be June 7th from 10-12pm, 3-6 will be June 14th from 10-12 here at HOA!
