Two Truths and a Lie, Who You Talking About!?
How well do you know the staff here at MMS? We are all familiar with the "get to know you game" Two Truths and a Lie, so let's pair it with "Who You Talking About!??" A game that I am sure others play, but I just made up for Friday Focus! Let's see how well you do! Thanks to the volunteers as they had no idea what they were getting into!
Two Truths & A Lie, Giesler Edition! Which one of these is not true:
- I have six siblings
- I have five Tattoos
- I have one Cat
"Who You Talking About??" Version One.
Which staff member are these facts referring to?
- My Favorite color is purple
- I have a "50-ish" pound dog.
- I went to SDSU
Who You Talking About Version Two! It's the same game with "Two Truths and A Lie" mixed in! Who is it and what are they lying about!
- I've only broken one bone in my body. I fell down the basement steps!
- I went to college to be a chiropractor, but switched to being a teacher my senior year
- My first car was a Volkswagon Rabbit. It shot flames out the tail pipe if you drove 60MPH
Math is all around us!
I have had this conversation with a few "Unwilling Math participants" this year. I make the argument ent that "math is all around us, you can't escape!" Ms. Kummer's Math 360 makes it true! Student's get the opportunity to practice the concepts on the board with each other before the homework. They love it!
Worm Racing!
Mrs. Parson's class measures speed and distance by using Super Worms (beetle larvae) to practice calculating speed and distance/ to create time motion graphs!
FaceTime Follow Up
A follow up from last week, Mrs. Winthers class did a Facetime with the Kayaker on the Great Lakes. The kids were equipped with questions and ready to talk with their celebrity! Did you know that Mrs. Winthers even went up to the Great Lakes this summer to go on part of the trip with Traci!? What an Adventure that would be!
Timing is everything!
As part of her Ancient Civ. curriculum, Mrs. Hearnen's class does a "Mummy Wrap" right around Halloween. The timing of the activity is impeccable as they get to learn the mummification process as part of the holiday festivities!
I pledge to be Tobacco Free
As part of the 6th grade Unfiltered Reality Lock-In, students pledged to be tobacco free! Thanks for the hard work! Students filled out "I would rather..." cards and they were quite entertaining. "I would rather lick the floor than smoke tobacco!" Way to rock it, MMS students!
Dancing Mummies!
As part of the Halloween festivities, students partook in a Halloween Dance at MMS. Fun was had by all, and it wasn't to frightening for the kids!
Can you hear it?
If you have stuck around after school chances are you have heard the kids practicing. Just a reminder that the Musical performance is next Thursday!
18th Successful Trunk-or-Treat
Over 900 costume-clad kids ventured out to come to MMS for Trunk or Treat this year. There were 51 trunks and 150 volunteers! It went smoothly! If you see Mrs. Olson or Mrs. Moore, congratulate them on this successful event. It is not easy to pull off.
How do you do notes?
No two teachers will run their classroom the same way. The same can be said for how you deliver the content to your kids. I encourage you to stop in and see what your peers are doing to keep their class engaging. Mr. Gubbrud believes his notes are a work of art. He may be right! I would not want to erase these if I did this!
The Playoff Game is tonight at Joe Quintal Field. Be sure to dress nice as it is sure to be a chilly one! See you there!
