A Message from Our Principal

Hi Palisades Parents,

It has been a great week here at Palisades! Every week brings more of a sense of routine. Teachers are digging into lots of fall themes starting with our kindergarteners studying trees. Lots of teachers are teaching about Day of the Dead traditions in Latin America.

We look forward to seeing you at Parent Conferences and the Evening Dia de Los Muertos Celebration. See below and decide whether you would like to make copies of people or Pets that are no longer with you for our community Day of the Dead Altar in the foyer.

We are also looking forward to our Move-a-thon!! Thanks to all of you working on making that fun for our students.

Dates to Remember:

  • Monday 10/25 Last Day to turn in Dia de Muertos Poster
  • Tues 10/26 & Wed 10/27 Move-A-Thon

Day of the Dead

Palisades is gearing up to celebrate Día de los Muertos the week of Oct.28–Nov 2. This traditional Mexican holiday is a blend of pre-Hispanic indigenous beliefs and Spanish beliefs that focuses on honoring lost loved ones in a festive and joyous celebration.

Our school will have an altar in the front of the school to honor the memory of our loved ones (pets are included too). Students, teachers and staff may bring a copy of a photo to place on the altar, starting October 26. The picture should be no larger than a 4x5. We suggest a copy so that no treasured photos are lost.

Thank you for helping bring this cultural celebration to life in our school!

Palisades Teachers and Staff

Equity Audit

The Lake Oswego School District has engaged the Western Educational Equity Assistance Center (WEEAC) from the Metropolitan State University of Denver for a review of our practices, policies, and protocols in relation to instruction and educational equity. Between November 15-18, the WEEAC staff will be conducting virtual interviews and surveys with administrators, staff, teachers, students, and parents. Each interview will take 45-60 minutes with a WEEAC interviewer.

We are looking for parents to participate in a focus group. If you are interested, please complete this survey form:

This information collected by the WEEAC Team is anonymous. Questions about the process can be directed to Colleen Toomey, Analyst at WEEAC (

Parent Teacher Conference Guidelines

This year, parents-guardians have the opportunity to choose a virtual Zoom conference or an in-person conference.

If you choose an in-person conference please note that people inside school buildings are required to follow current state guidance, including:

  • Wear a properly fitted mask over your face and nose while indoors.

  • Maintain 6 or more feet of distance from other adults; except household partners may be within 6 feet of each other.

  • Visitors are not allowed in schools while children are present. We are able to have in-person conferences for adults only.

    • Please note that in a few pre-arranged circumstances a child may attend their own conference, but we need to limit siblings attending to decrease the possibility of exposure, particularly with the possibility of unvaccinated individuals in the building. You will be notified directly if your child's teacher is planning for student-led conferences.

If you are unable to follow these guidelines, we ask that you sign up for a virtual conference instead.

Teachers are prepared to offer a quality conference experience no matter the format, and they are looking forward to talking with you about your child’s progress.

Please Keep Ill Students Out of School

Please click here to determine when to keep ill students out of school.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Reserved Parking Spaces

We appreciate your help supporting our wonderful district nurses!

Please know that we have 4 parking spaces out front which are reserved for Nurses who are housed in our building and may need to enter and exit our parking lot quickly due to emergency situations around the district.

In addition, please know that we share our building with district employees from the Bond and the Special Services departments, these employees park in the back of the building. They do on occasion walk in our hallways. They are all fully vaccinated and background checked and do not enter classrooms.

A Message from Our PTO

It is almost here! October 26th and 27th our Palisades Kids will move their bodies together as a class and have fun while raising funds for our school. Thank you to all who have donated already! We will be doing small prizes for kids who raise over $25 (special pop-its) and over $50 (Gift card for either Manoa Shaved Ice or a Scholastic book). The big prizes will be classroom prizes/parties. Keep an eye on the leaderboard, which is on your pledgestar landing page near the bottom under the word: “Leaderboard” to see where your class is. We will continue to receive funds after the event and so appreciate the support.

What is a Move-A-Thon? It is a chance for the kids at Palisades to move their bodies in a healthy way as a school while raising funds for things that are so important at Palisades. This is a chance to let family and community members show their support for our school as they sponsor our Palisades Movers on October 26 & 27th. The kids will have a chance to choose which way they want to move their bodies and will then have a window of 25 minutes during the school day to do their choice with members of their class, all while raising money and earning prizes!

On the day of your child will receive their school shirt that can be used throughout the year for special school spirit days. And at the end of the day they will receive a water bottle filled with some fun rewards for their hard work. Keep an eye out for that coming home!

Register with Pledgestar so you can start raising funds!

Leading up to this event we will begin building our Ofrenda in the secure vestibule. We invite you to bring in a picture of a loved one who has passed. We ask that it be a copy and not the original as sometimes the process of getting from a backpack and onto the wall tends to damage the image. The process of putting up images of loved ones who have passed on is a crucial part of the remembrance component of this celebration and we hope you will join us. If you need help getting an image copied please reach out and we can help.

Volunteer Sign Ups

Below is the new volunteer registration form with options for committees and ways to be part of the community all year long. We appreciate all of our volunteers!
