Principal's Den
I hope you are all healthy and doing well. This week our classes continue to start their Mandarin instruction in grades 1-3. DLI students and grades 4 and 5 students will soon be notified of after school option for Mandarin instruction with one of our teachers. We have extended our deadline to join Ballet Folklorico and are now inviting all 5th grade students along with 3rd and 4th who are interested in participating. Practice for Ballet Folklorico begins this week. This coming Thursday we will also have a meeting for those 4th and 5th grade students interested in California Cadet Corps. Your teachers in grades 4 and 5 will be sharing the meeting information. If you have any questions you may reach out to our commandant Captain Willett or contact our school office.
Congratulations to Ms. Jaqueline Magallanes for being selected and recognized as the Moreno Valley Unified School District teacher of the month for the month of August by Wake Up Moreno Valley. It was a special ceremony and we are all very proud of her at Cloverdale.
Thank you for your support in keeping all of our kids safe. This includes respecting school zone speed limits and looking out for our pedestrians. I appreciate you for helping students cross the street and for your patience during drop-off and pick-up. Now that we have our TK also dismissing at 2:05pm we have more vehicles and traffic during pick-up. Please plan accordingly. We are trying our best to supervise our students during dismissal. We have also worked with our district safety department, transportation departments, and local police department to gain ideas on our pick-up procedures. Thank you for your understanding and for giving yourself enough time during after school pick-up.
The safety of our students is a top concern for us. You can expect to see several of our staff, including our admin team, in the morning after 7:10am when we open the front gates both at the front and the back of our school. You will also find us at both the front and back gates during dismissal.
Please complete your Annual Information Update if you have not already done so. Some parents have notified us that they have not been receiving school information and we are finding that often times it is due to not having their annual information update complete. It is necessary that we achieve a 100% completion rate and we will continue to remind you if necessary, thank you for your understanding.
Let me remind you that all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, but it is very important that you all complete the lunch application in order for our district to be reimbursed.
Thank you all for your continued support. Together we will work to make this the best school year for our lions! LEADERS BY EXAMPLE!!
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
Our goal is to be college ready once we graduate from High School and that starts today!
Sincerely,
Genaro García
