Peek At The Week!
Week of 2/3/20
Principal's Message...
Well January was certainly a LONG month! Welcome February!
As I write our Peek At The Week this week, on Groundhog day, I am reminded of the 1993 Bill Murray movie in which he is living the same day, over and over again. A long winter month, the pressures of testing and challenging or frustrating work conditions can bring on the dreaded teacher burnout. As I reflect on my 23 years in education, I realize that this is a time point of the year in which educators can FEEL:
F- fatigued
E- empty
E- emotional
L- lethargic
At this halfway mark of the year, please know that because of each and everyone of you, we have accomplished amazing things in 90 days! We have created a shared VISION and have tuned our current purpose to have a clear and strong MISSION. We have aligned our beliefs and developed CORE VALUE statements to anchor our work. We have begun to develop a school improvement plan that is focused on achievement and growth for all students and even successfully advocated to hire additional staff this year!
Your achievement is recognized and valued and as we approach the last half of the year, remember to not lose focus on yourself and your passions, to be excited about your accomplishments- no matter how big or small, to feel energized- with self care and know that you are loved- by this community, your students, your family and friends and me <3
F- focused
E- excited
E- energized
L- loved
And in case you haven't heard yet, the groundhog did not see it's shadow and Spring is on it's way!
Wishing everyone a great week,
~Kim

Engaging and Inspirational Lessons!
Mike's students were acting as scientists, as they embarked on an outside investigation to learn more about solids and their properties and Beth used a digital short to help her students think about characters and their strong feelings.
