Be Kind Week
Monday 20th:
Theme: Integrity
Spirit day: Dream of Kindness - Pajama day...this one should be easy ;)
Integrity Activity: Make Kindness the Norm; click on the link and download a booklet. Now some of the activities mentioned are not recommended per social distancing standards, please use your best judgement. We recommend starting with pages 18 & 19. Here you can start some healthy habits and learn more about yourself. Each activity is "worth" a certain amount of hearts (explained on page 4 & 5), set a goal for the number of "hearts" you can earn for the week.*
Tuesday 21st:
Theme: Inclusiveness
Spirit day: Team Kindness - represent your extracurricular: club/sport/outside of school organization
Inclusiveness Activity: It's safe to say as a whole "screen time" is up, way up. If you are going to be on your device more than normal be kind while doing so. Today's challenge is to leave a positive note on someone else's post.
*Keep track of your "hearts" in your Make Kindness the Norm booklet.
Wednesday 22nd (Earth Day):
Theme: Caring & Compassion
Spirit day: Kindness is Timeless - Dress like someone you admire
In honor of Earth Day, we can save some paper! E-mail your teacher(s) a note of thanks. Currently, LHS teachers are working at home just like you and miss you all terribly. Send an uplifting note to a teacher or teachers of your choice. Teacher E-mails can be found HERE.
*Keep track of your "hearts" in your Make Kindness the Norm booklet.
Thursday 23rd:
Theme: Gratitude
Spirit day: BEEEEE Kind - Wear Yellow
Gratitude activity: There are SO many individuals sacrificing their own health and time with family to keep the rest of safe and secure during these unprecedented times. Medical professionals, grocery store employees, warehouse workers, truck drivers, etc. A little note of kindness can go so far! Let's make sure to uplift those who are keeping us going while the rest of the world is shut down.
*Keep track of your "hearts" in your Make Kindness the Norm booklet.
Friday 24th:
Theme: Mindfulness
Spirit day: Cheer on Kindness - LHS Spirit Day
Mindfulness activity: Normally, we would request that you take the time to be alone and reflect upon your experience from the week, but my guess is for most of you is that alone time isn't the problem during our current state. So instead we challenge you to one of the following options: join a virtual book club, host a virtual dinner party, sidewalk chalk inspiration for others, play a game online (or at home with a family member), or host a technology-free dinner with your family. Is being around others not the issue? Need alone time? Your challenge is to find the alone time needed through one of the options: exercise, coloring, going for a walk/run, riding your bike or starting a journal
*Bonus: How many "hearts" did you earn this week? Still have more to accomplish? Keep spreading kindness and working through your booklet!
