PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

This was the week that all things wonderful happened at Elkins Pointe!!!

The Scholastic Book Fair took place in the Media Center. Mrs. Newman and Mrs. Rickson arranged for the Pelloni family to bring in their service dog, Bella, for the event. I think our students enjoyed shopping the Book Fair as much as our four-legged friend enjoyed greeting all of them.

Our amazing PTSA brought "The Great Outdoors" inside to treat teachers and staff to a week of appreciation. Each day during Teacher Appreciation Week, the staff was treated to a new "surprise and delight!" Thank you to the Teacher Appreciation Committee, Amie Dean, Jenny Rindt, Lindsay Lavin, and Jaime Kohler, for the coffee bar, trail mix, massages, jewelry, Ippolito's luncheon, and so much more.

Next, we were on to International Night! The Elkins Pointe International Night has become so popular that the Mayor of Roswell, Lori Henry, came to enjoy the festivities. Our entertainment featured a Japanese Archery Group, a Flamenco Dancer, Superhero Greenscreen, and Mr. Seth Gamba's Band, The Expats! Thank you to our World Language Department for bringing the world to us!

We ended our week with our Teacher and Professional of the Year Breakfast. The PTSA arranged a morning feast from the Flying Biscuit. Congratulations to our TOTY, Mr. Johnson, and our teacher nominees, Mrs. Nessmith and Mr. Wilson. An additional congratulations to Mr. Wilson for the superior ratings on LGPE for the Band. We also celebrated our Professional of the Year, Mrs. O'Hanlon Cowles, Title I Parent Liaison. Lastly, we are pleased to announce our Volunteer of the Year, Mrs. Calvert. Fulton County Schools will be honoring all of the VOTYs at a special luncheon in April.

Next week, we will be dialing it down to get ready for the Georgia Milestones. Our week will consist of preparation of students and devices! Please make sure that your children keep their devices in tip-top shape, properly powered down, fully charged, safely stored in their bags, and know where their laptop is at all times.

Sincerely,

Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S

Celebrating TOTY & POTY Breakfast

Big picture

Read by Amie Dean, Teacher Appreciation Chair:

Each of you – Emory, Lisa, Todd, & Carly is leaving your mark and creating your Masterpiece through your life’s work with students. Every person in this room and on this staff takes up the brush and makes a mark on the lives of the student’s here at Elkins Pointe. Thank you for what you sacrifice to do this job, and for leaving “Footprints for a Lifetime.”

Poem by the poet Javan from his book: "Meet Me Halfway:

We are born into the World

Like a blank canvas

And each person that crosses our path

Takes up the brush

And makes his mark

Upon our surface

So it is that we develop

But we must realize there comes a day

That we must take up the brush

And finish the work

For only we can determine

If we are to be

Just another painting

Or a Masterpiece
