Well Hello, Dolly!

If you haven't already purchased tickets for Tamanend Spring Musical, Hello Dolly, they will be available at the door for tonight's show (3/9) at 7 p.m., and tomorrow's shows (3/10) at both 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. You don't want to miss it!

Boomerang Honorees

January's Asset was “Service to Others.” Tamanend had 18 outstanding nominations each of whom has made a significant contribution to the community. Of the 18, we just had to honor two students for their service... there simply was no way to choose just one. You'll see why when you read on...

The first honoree is Kate B. Because of Kate, her family became involved in dog rescue. She has trained 11 dogs that have been successfully adopted. She spends hours at adoption events and she walks dogs at DogTown to help socialize and exercise dogs for adoption. She has volunteered to babysit at Women's Place so the moms could attend their therapy sessions. She’s also volunteered for 3 years at Bucks County Housing Group doing arts and crafts with the children in their transitional housing program. Here at Tamanend, Kate has been a member of our Friends program in the mornings since 7th grade. She also went to Bridge Valley once a week last year through the Friend's Program. Last but not least, Kate has packed meals for Feed the Hungry Children.

Our second building winner is Conor H. Connor has made significant contributions to others in our community. At Philabundance, Conor has helped sort through tons of food to pull out the salvageable items. At Manna on Main, Conor will do whatever is needed and will raise his hand for the least favorite jobs such as dishwashing when no other volunteers are raising their hand. Conor was a Toys4Tots route assistant to his mother. Connor has participated in Bucks Knocks Out Hunger annually since 2014. He helps his family make, package and deliver meal trays for St John's Hospice. At Doylestown Food Pantry, Conor volunteered whenever he could last summer. Additionally, last summer Conor had a very unique service experience. Conor attended Temple University’s Leadership and Community Camp.

Kate and Conor, thank you for setting such an outstanding example of how we can serve others in our community. You are perfect representatives of this asset, and we are thrilled to recognize your contributions.

Super Amazing Geographic News!

Submitted by Mr. Matthew Landis

The Social Studies Department is thrilled to announce that this year’s school-wide geography bee winner, Patrick S., has qualified for the Pennsylvania State Round! To do this, Pat scored above the state-wide average on a brutally difficult test, and will face off against other geography buffs at our illustrious state capitol in April. Pat, best of luck, may the greatness of Chief Tamanend guide you to victory!

CBSD Middle Schools Honored for Relay for Life Contributions

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences

Our official conference day is Thursday, March 29, although some conferences are already taking place. It is important that students join the conferences so that their insights and questions are heard. Teachers might contact parents to schedule a conference, or parents/guardians may request a conference. If you would like a conference to discuss your student's progress in school, please email your student's teacher or team leader to schedule a time to meet. If teachers do not request a conference, and you do not have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, then a conference is not necessary at this time. However, if at any time throughout the year that should change and you do have questions or concerns, please contact us so that we can all work together to ensure your student’s success.

State Assessments

The following state assessments are planned for students:

  • PSSA ELA: April 10-12
  • PSSA Math: April 17 & 18
  • PSSA Science: April 24 & 25
  • Algebra 1 Keystones: May 15 & 16

To prepare for the assessments, students are encouraged to go to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and bring water, a calculator, and two #2 pencils. Students may not bring any unapproved electronic devices: cell/smartphones, smartwatches, ereaders, tablets, etc. For more information and frequently asked questions about state assessments, click here.
