Staff Appreciation Week
On Tuesday, staff was treated to a Cinco de Mayo Drive-Thru Staff Appreciation Extravaganza! The luncheon and goodies were donated by community members in HB! It was a true GRIT moment to see so many people come together to honor our staff. Thank you to HB Quarantine Cuisine, Shawn Kortes, Hek Valdez, Slapfish, Casa Jimenez, 4 Sons, and all of you who donated to make this happen. We were featured in the OC Register and on Channel 2 News!
On Thursday, the PTSA put together a video of students with sweet messages to our staff. It had many of us in tears! The PTSA also provided treats that we had the pleasure of delivering to staff members' homes. Teacher Created Materials gave every teacher a generous gift card to use in their classrooms. It was so much fun to see everyone this week and celebrate a wonderful school staff!
Distance Learning Updates
Starting Monday, we will begin the process of returning student belongings to you. We will have a drive-thru in our new parking lot off of 17th St. Please make sure to adhere to your scheduled time and do not exit your vehicle. We have staggered the times and trained our staff for the health and safety of all. During the pick-ups, you will be getting locker room clothes/items, locks, workbooks and work from various classrooms, etc. Our teachers and staff worked hard to gather as many things as they could, but please know that some items may have been missed. We also had to cut a few locks on lockers that did not have keys or combos on file with the PE department.
Please bring any library books, teacher's classroom books, and sports jerseys to return. Do not bring textbooks - those will be collected at a later date. All 8th graders may pick up a yard sign from the PTSA to celebrate their promotion.
Please plan to drive-thru during the date and hour of your last name below. Bags of items for other letters will not be available at that time. No walk-ups please - for everyone's safety. You will enter in the driveway closest to Palm on 17th St. and exit through the driveway that has typically been Smith's entrance.

8th Grade Promotion Information
The 8th Grade Promotion Committee, PTSA, and administration are all working hard to make sure you all have a special and memorable promotion this year “Covid-19 style.” But, we need your help! We still need speeches, artwork, and national anthem submissions for promotion from our 8th grade students. Our theme this year is 2020 Vision, and you can submit all entries to dwyerpromotion@gmail.com. We will be selecting the winning speech, anthem singer, and artist on May 19th, so get your entries in as soon as possible (due date - May 15)!
We are currently planning a "Drive-Thru Celebration," a virtual Promotion via video, and yard signs for each 8th grader. Each student will be given an assignment through Core to create a Google Slide for this video. More details will come as more and more is solidified.
In addition, we know our families would like to celebrate Dwyer’s spirit, so please visit here for your 8th Grade Promotion "Swag."
Happy Mother's Day
