Math Fun Friday in Mrs. Fleming's class
Mrs. Cariola's class explores air!
The first grade students in Mrs.Cariola’s class are exploring air. The students used a balloon-rocket system to discover how far air in the balloon will propel it along a flight line. This science experiment helps the students understand how air can be compressed and that pressure from compressed air can move things.
Mrs. Mitchell's class loves air as well!
Students in Mrs. Mitchell's class learned about air pressure when they made their own parachutes and tested them out.
Mrs. Osborn's class explores weather!
Room B-4 is studying weather during Science time. Students are learning how to be a meteorologist by observing and explaining the weather daily. We are keeping track on the monthly calendar to see what weather happens most often for the rest of the school year. We also went outside to draw the weather for the day in our Science notebook. We will be spending some time outside watching and observing clouds. We are excited to learn more about weather!
Faust Fun
We are really enjoying learning our new math concepts!!
While we were practicing length and measurement, we had a great time measuring, using paper clips and counting cubes.
We had fun comparing objects right in our pencil boxes, crayons, pencils and glue sticks. We learned that to compare lengths we needed to line them up using a ‘start line’.
As with all of our math chapters we finished with a “Faust Fun Activity!”
We all made Origami frogs and practiced our own jumping and measuring skills!!
We all had to jump our frogs a minimum of nine jumps, using a counting cubes (36)
to measure the length of the jump.
When we were done we turned our measurement data into graphs!!!
Nothing better than working on two math skills at once!!!
