Welcome to the 23/24 School Year - Semester 1!

Hello OFY - H1 Mustangs!

To new students, welcome to OFY - Hesperia 1 School Site. To returning students, welcome back!

Your teachers, School Counselor, and Career Pathways Coordinator will be connecting with you and/or providing you opportunities to connect with them so you can develop goals and a strong vision toward your success in your future here at OFY! As your Assistant Principal, I am confident all of you are going to reach new heights and challenge yourselves to be the best YOU that you can be! 1 - Warning & put on OFY Swag or turn clothing inside out, if necessary

2 - Parent call home and the above # 1

3 - Parent meeting scheduled with Teacher/Administration, student sent home and marked absent

Please be sure you are following the above standards and guidelines.

Good Habit of the Month -

Time Management

• Make a weekly or daily to-do list
• Use a calendar or planner
• Get up early to get stuff done
• Reward yourself when tasks are complete
• Schedule your “me” time (so it doesn’t eat up study time)
• Read the syllabus/whiteboard and make plans from it
• Prioritize and schedule what you need to do – be realistic!
• Set aside study/class work hours each day
• Have a spot where all studying takes place
• Make or join a study group

Reading

• Read more than once
• Highlight and take notes
• Make margin notes
• Don’t put off reading assignments until the last minute!
• Review after reading
• Keep from dozing off: don’t read right before going to bed, and don’t read in bed
• Read and understand captions and figures
• Make a glossary of terms
• Pace yourself
• Pay attention to key concepts and end of chapter reviews

Hi! My name is Jason and I’m your new counselor at Hesperia 1! I've been a counselor with OFY for seven years and I absolutely love my job. My goal is to assist you in your academic goals, to help you plan for after high school, and to be here for you and provide you with the tools during the challenging moments in life. If I don't have the information or resource you’re in need of, I’ll do my very best to find it. When I’m not at work, I’m usually hanging with my partner and newborn baby, playing with my dog Velma, working with my hands on a project, learning and keeping my brain active, or searching for authentic street tacos. If you ever need anything at all, please do not hesitate to stop by my desk or call/text me at (909) 243-3469. That’s what I’m here for. Make sure your student is working on schoolwork 6 hours per day and 30 hours per week to stay on track!

Freshman: 0-59 credits

Sophomore: 60-119 credits

Junior: 120-179 credits

Senior: 180-230 credits
