GT LEAD

Learning Experiences and Academic Discoveries

Upcoming Testing

When we return after the Holiday Break, the GT Testing Window for Kindergarten and 5th Grade will be from January 10th - 24th. If your 5th Grader is already in GT LEAD, then he/she does NOT need further testing, unless he/she is interested in applying for the ASPIRE Academy.

During this testing time, there will be no GT LEAD for all grades. If testing is completed early, then classes will resume.

If you are interested in GT testing for your other children not currently in LEAD, or if you are interested in your child testing for the ASPIRE Academy, please note dates below:

5TH GRADE PARENTS

I am happy to conference with you either in person or via phone regarding middle school course selection. This is totally optional on your part.

Students will meet with middle school counselors either at the end of January or first part of February, date forthcoming soon. Also, after the Holiday Break, middle schools will be sending home notification either in grade level newsletters or via Take Home folders regarding middle school information nights.

1ST GRADE

Students read THE GREAT FUZZ FRENZY, and then selected 3 materials, plus a piece of fuzz to problem solve and make their own creations. Lastly, they gave their new creations titles and shared with the group.

USING APPS TO WRITE CODE

2ND GRADE

Second Graders discovered extinct animals! They had to describe the features, reason for extinction, habitat, and source of food. Each student put these into a Doceri. Ask your child to show it to you by locating it in his/her GT LEAD folder in Google Drive.

3RD GRADE

Third Graders created their New Improved School Tools and wrote commercials for them. The tool had to have a moving part, two purposes, and a creative name. Then each team had to pitch their idea in front of a live audience. Ask your child to show you his/her video presentation located in the GT LEAD folder in his/her Google Drive.

4TH GRADE

Fourth Graders have been working in an Explorer's Mindset these past few weeks. They researched areas on Earth that need more exploring. They pretended to be in character, wrote scripts based on their research, and then used the new Green Screen App to film them. You can view their presentations in their LEAD folders in Google Drive. We reflected on strengths and improvements. Some strengths were trying a new app, using props, changing up backgrounds, great research, and using humor. Some areas of improvement were needing to include more research in script, memorizing more, being more familiar with app, speaking loudly, and balancing funny with meaningful.
