Characters: Mr.Hansen, Miss Moss, The Nurse, Catherine Pelzer, Dave Pelzer, Rob Pelzer, Russell Pelzer, Stan Pelzer, Stephen Pelzer
Food: Cobb Salad- I picked this because it is a main dish in California. It is named after Robert Cobb a restaurant owner who tossed together leftovers that he found with French dressing. Also because Dave isn’t allowed to eat any meals with his family and to make him want food even more his mom would make the most popular meals she could just so she could tell him no.
Description: Garden Salad made from chopped salad greens ), tomatoes, crisp bacon, boiled, grilled or roasted chicken breast, hard-boiled egg, avocado, Chives, Roquefort cheese, and red-wine vinaigrette
Setting: Washington DC
Food: New England Fish Chowder- This soup originated in Massachusetts and is very popular in this region. John F Kennedy was born in Massachusetts, meaning he grew up eating this soup because it was so common in the area. Once he was in the White House he had always had soup and a sandwich for lunch, and it was no surprise New England Chowder was always his desired soup.
Setting: Liverpool, England
Food: Scouse, a type of beef/lamb stew that originated in Liverpool, commonly made by sailors.
The stew is made up of part beef and lamb mixed with an array of vegetables, mainly potatoes, carrots, and onions. The recipe is topped off with some thyme, butter, and a heavy amount of salt and pepper.
Characters: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, all are from Liverpool, England where they started the greatest band of all time; The Beatles. Liverpool was known for being a lower class, blue collar city, that did not have the flash and wealth of London. The scouse food symbolizes this lack of wealth and represents Liverpool’s sea-based culture.
Setting : North Korea
Food: Kimich (Pickled Cabbage)
Characters : Shin Dong-hyuk and his mother had rationed ingredients for a simple and redundant daily meal of Pickled Cabbage. This however was only possible if and when his mother had completed and met her daily quota working in the fields of the prison camp 14. This in fact in was the only meal that both individuals had to eat until the following day.
Food: The necessary ingredients needed for the meal are cabbage, carrots, vinegar, celery, and green peppers. This is a relatively simple side dish.It is one of Korea's national dishes and is served as a condiment. It is also the foundation for many soups, stews, stir fries, and rice dishes.
Food: Golden Opulence Sundae
Setting: Washington DCCharacters: JFK and Mimi Alford
Originated in Washington DC to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Serendipity 3 this sundae costs $1,000. This sundae is filled with the most expensive ingredients and served in a crystal goblet with a mother of pearl spoon. This represents how extravagant the presidency is as well as how complicated it is. The presidency itself is a position that many people look up to and respect. Just like this sundae, it is something that very few will have the honor of experiencing. It takes two days of preparation as well as two hours to actually create the sundae. JFK’s presidency was complicated not only because he was assassinated but also because he had many affairs with secretaries, interns, and other people that worked in the White House.
