Our Mission
A Message from Jen
Hope everyone enjoyed this unseasonably warm weekend! Nothing like 60 degree days to put you in the holiday spirit :)
Last week was full of things to celebrate, so I thought I would just mention a few...
- Our first graders earned $820 for the Zion Nature Center through their events last week. Thank you to everyone who supported their efforts and congrats to the first grade team on a job well done. Your kids are going to be pros at counting money!
-We made it out of the building and all clear in 2 minutes, 36 seconds during our fire drill Thursday. WOW! To give you a point of reference, we were just under 4 minutes earlier this fall. Our fire and police partners were quite impressed! Thank you for doing your part to help our students take these drills seriously and respond so quickly.
-Our school welcomed over 180 students for the Dads Club Winterfest. This annual event is always a hit and this year, was fully manned prior to its start. Thank you to the many teachers who came to volunteer or support our Dads Club. A special thank you to Teresa for assisting in getting our volunteer spots filled. She used her charm to even get an unsuspecting dad to play Santa!
-We had an overwhelming response to the Lucy Calkins Reading Units of Study pilot. I am please to share that we will be able to honor ALL requests by teachers to pilot these materials through district and building funding. In all, we will have 12 classrooms piloting the materials. Kathy and I are so excited to work along side you in utilizing these materials.Thank you for your willingness to learn and grow! Pilot teachers, look for additional information this week about the January PD.
