Book-"Please wait to be seated"
story of a waitress, tries different seating arrangements
After reading the first two pages of the book, to a large group of students, I asked students , "How many customers do we have waiting to be seated? and then How many ways we can arrange the furniture for these customers?"
Invited few students (who are learning to count to 15) to take turns and count the customers waiting to be seated.

Sukhleen used two different ways to show twelve chairs (pretending wooden logs as chairs)

Parvir wrote numbers on the table (wooden blocks) and beside the chairs (wooden logs) on the picture. He then added all the chairs and tables using the picture.

Ayesha choose to draw her picture to represent the arrangement of 6 tables and 12 chairs. She has also carefully drawn the right amount of plates, napkins and flower vases.
Different arrangement for customers
Riana used two tables of ones, two tables for twos and combined 4tables for the remaining 6 . She also numbered the chairs, tables and used words to reflect her thinking.
Restaurant with parking
Bisman connected 3 big tables with place for 4 customers on each. He also showed 10 cars parked outside the restaurant and numbered chairs, tables and cars.
