Anorexia Nervosa

What is it?
Anorexia is characterized by:
- the 15% body fat loss due to the starving on oneself
- Distorted self-image
What causes it?
This doesn't have a cause but it has triggers. A trigger can be the reasoning behind developing anorexia but not the exact cause.
- Enviromental
- Genetic
- Bullying
- Media
Signs to look for..
Symptoms you may see in an anorexic are:
- Weighing themselves several times a day
- Wearing baggy clothing
- Counting calories
- Excessive exercising
- High heart rate
- Low blood pressure
- Organ failure
- Skin conditions (Jaundice and Cyanosis)
How to treat it..
- Counseling for other psychological problems that may have triggered it
- Medication
- In-patient or out patient help
