NFHS Counseling Newsletter

Kicking Off the 21-22 School Year!

Hello Raider Nation!

Your NFHS Counseling Team values communication. We want our students and families to be aware of important information, upcoming events and opportunities, and where to go with questions. This newsletter aims to help communicate all of that to our students, families, and community. We are looking forward to this school and are here for YOU!

But first... Who is my counselor?

And now... How do I meet with mine?

Appointment Request Forms

If a student would like to request a meeting with their assigned counselor, please visit the NFHS Counseling Website and then the Appointment Requests page. From their, students can access a google form allowing them to submit their request to see their counselor. We do our best to meet with students as soon as we are able!

Senior Seminar

This week, the NFHS Counseling Team was in all senior English classes to present on graduation requirements, college and career planning, and financial aid resources. For parents, as well as students who may have not been in class this week, we have created a video of the information that was shared in the class. Please view the video using the button below.

All students received a senior packet during this event, which included a copy of their senior credit checklist, with exactly what classes they need for graduation and 4 HOPE Rigor classes, as well as a copy of their transcript, FAQ sheet, and senior dues information. To request transcripts, students will use Parchment (linked below). If your student does not have an on campus English class or was absent this week, please have them stop by counseling to pick up their senior packet.

As we reminded students during the presentation, students can pay senior dues now. If students pay senior dues by September 30, the cost is $125. If students pay between October 1 and January 31, seniors dues will be $145. To pay senior dues, utilize the link below.

We look forward to working with your students their senior year!

Scholarship Opportunities

The NFHS Counseling website has a page specific to Scholarships/Financial Aid. We are consistently adding scholarship opportunities to our Class of 2022 Scholarship List as we hear about them. We encourage students to keep tabs on this list and apply to these opportunities they may be eligible for as they see them!

Student Opportunities

Rosa's Gift

Rosa's Gift is a non profit organization in Forsyth county providing services to primary caregivers of elderly loved ones. One of the services provided is companionship/supervision to seniors. Once or twice a month a volunteer would be scheduled to visit with a senior for up to 4 hours per visit. During the visit, the primary caregiver would be relieved for a few hours to run their errands and/or just have a mental break from the daily responsibilities of caring for an elderly person. The volunteer is only responsible for companionship and supervision. Activities such as watching tv, having a cup of coffee or playing a board game/cards is all that is required of the volunteer.

If you are interested in volunteering with this non-profit in our community, please explore the resources below:
