No Work Wednesday - Take II
We are always learning. We rolled out our first No Work Wednesday October 21 to help students get caught up on late/missing work. It was a success and, in talking with a few families, we gained insight from your perspective as to how we can improve this process. Next Wednesday, November 18 is our second No Work Wednesday and we are going to go into it a little differently as a result of what we learned the first time around. Below is a framework that will help our staff better support students this second time around:
Staff will do their best to grade all work and put the grades in Tyler SIS by the end of 11/16
Staff will review all assignments with classes on 11/17 to help students know what is missing work
Staff will guide students to create a list of work that needs to be completed from within that window for their class
Most staff will be available to support students from 1:00 - 2:00 on 11/18
No ‘new’ work will be assigned for 11/18
Attendance will still be taken 11/18
On 11/18, we will have two study hall rooms from 8:30-10:00 and 10:00-11:30 for our student to join for an additional support
Learning Opportunities will be shared to all students for those who are caught up and want an additional challenge that day

2020-21 Hybrid SCHOOL & YEARBOOK PICTURES DEC. 9
Important Instructions
We have scheduled Van Gogh Photographers to come in on December 9, 2020 between 2-6 p.m. This will be an opportunity to have your child have a picture taken for our 2020-21 yearbook. You will also have the option to pre-purchase your child's yearly pictures. This event will take place in the gym and will be very spread out. In order to follow health guidelines you will be assigned a specific 15 minute window for your child to come in between 2-6 p.m. We ask that every student wear a mask coming into the gym. Students will be allowed to remove their mask only to take their photo and will promptly exit the building. Only students will be permitted into the gym. Please plan ahead. For the safety of all students we will not have other times available or retakes. If you pre-pay and you require a refund after you receive your pictures you may contact Van Gogh photographers.
SELFIE OPTION-
Since we are living in a Hybrid world, we are also going to allow for Selfies to be submitted for yearbook pictures. See information/guidelines below if you are interested in that option. This will be a good option for those who are unable to attend during your assigned time for any reason.
Selfie pictures should be emailed to Ms. Truemper at atruemper@sd308.org. Please make sure the picture is taken against a blank wall with good lighting. No filters or stickers. Make sure to include the student's name and grade when emailing the picture. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT SELFIES IS DECEMBER 15.

STAFF SHOUT OUT
Staff Shout Out Form
Students and families can complete this form.
Tyler Student Information System vs. Google Classroom
Through Remote Learning, most feedback occurs electronically. Students may submit work to the teacher and the teacher will comment on it and return it. Final grades will only be housed within Tyler SIS.
Student Support Time
Our Pledge
We will also include this form weekly in the Bulldog Blast for community members to provide feedback and keep lines of communication open so we can respond to needs as they arise and provide support when needed.
Important Attendance Information
Attendance
Parents please remember to check your child’s attendance in Tyler. If you notice one or two absences, call the Attendance Office to report reason. This includes appointments and technology issues. Any student that misses up to two classes without a parent call will be marked “U” Unexcused for those classes. Any student that is marked absent for three or more classes, a call will go home to the parents. Students are expected to be present in class for the entire class period. The Attendance Line number is 630-636-2501. You can also email Mrs. Kiliszewski at Mkiliszewski@sd308.org if you have any questions.
During Remote Learning students must be called into the Attendance Line if they are not participating for all or part of the Remote Learning school days (Monday-Friday). Please leave a message on the Attendance Line notating the reason for absence. Include all symptoms or the reason if it is not illness related. Students need to be called in if missing a partial day. Please notate class/classes that will be missed and reason.
Wednesday Attendance Update
Students will be given a Google Form to complete for each class period every Wednesday by 8:00 AM. Students have until 12:00 to complete their attendance form from each teacher.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the PTO?
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is composed of parents, teachers, and staff working together to better our school and foster relationships throughout the school community.
What do we do?
We assist the school with providing innovative teaching resources for our kiddos. We plan fun events to bring families into the school throughout the year such as the 6th grade ice cream social and the 8th grade dance. We support our teachers and staff with appreciation events. We work with our school administrators to collaborate on school events and help to staff those events.
Who can join?
If you have a child at our school, you can.
Membership fees help to pay for all of the fun events and innovative teaching resources we assist the school with throughout the year. We also host fundraisers to help.
What if I am not able to help at the school, can I still join?
Absolutely. We ask for volunteers throughout the year but there is no minimum requirement to be a member. We’re glad to have your support in whatever form you are able.
Do I have to attend meetings to join?
No. We would love you to be there to help us plan and to provide feedback on the things we are doing, but it is not a requirement of membership.
