Problems in Africa

Desertification

Desertification is the process of fertile land becoming desert lands.

Desertification is happening all over Africa. Mostly in Northern Africa and also in parts of Southern Africa.

It is caused by cultivation of marginal lands, droughts, human activities, etc..

Overpopulation

Overpopulation is the condition of having a population so dense to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash.

It is happening ALL over Africa.

In Africa, overpopulation is caused by high fertility rate.

Apartheid

It is a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race.

Apartheid is taking place in South Africa (mainly).

Genocide

Genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic groups or nation.

It is happening in Central Africa.

It is happening because of the abject poverty, poor infrastructures, famine, etc..

Civil Wars

Civil Wars is a war between citizens of the same country.

It is happening all over Africa.

In Africa, civil wars are happening because of high-levels of poverty, failed political institutions, and the economic dependence on natural resources.

Disease

Diseases are happening ALL over Africa.

Diseases are spreading because of the horrible health care system they have. They can't properly vaccinate everyone because of their poor economy.

Question

How does a lack of education relate to the problems above?

  1. A lack of education relates to overpopulation because the people of Africa have no way of knowing that their country is growing and growing and nobody is stopping them because they have such a high poverty rate.
  2. The Civil Wars is seen as an opportunity factor with a lack of education.
  3. With a lack of education, it also affects the diseases in Africa because not many people have a knowledge with illnesses that is spread around, due to the fact that they don't have the necessary knowledge with diseases.

Rite of passage is a ceremony or event marking an important stage in someone's life.

Here are a few African rite of passages - Circumcision, Birth Ceremonies, Puberty, etc..


Swahili

Swahili is a Bantu language spoken in East Africa.

Polygamy

Polygamy is the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time.

It exists all over the African Continent.

Bantu

Bantu is a major branch of the Niger-Congo language family that is spoken by most people in Africa. There are about 650 Bantu languages.
