Christopher Columbus: The villain
In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered America, When he discovered America it was already populated by Native Americans called the Tainos. Christopher Columbus and his shipmates which he lead, raoed, killed, and enslaved these innocent natives. So is Christopher Columbus a hero or a villain? The answer to that question would be that is is a villain. In my eyes Columbus was a self centered, delusional, greedy man who doesn't deserved to have a day much less an holiday named after him.
Columbus mentioned gold in his writing nearly 150 times in the two months he spent sailing around the Caribbean. He demanded that each adult Taino (Native American) bring in gold every 3 months. There was little gold on the island, so most of them came to Columbus empty handed. In response, Columbus cut off their hands. On his second voyage, Columbus sent 550 natives back to Spain to be sold into slavery. At least 200 of them died on the way across the ocean.
