Principal & Campus Spotlight: Deborah Coulson!

North Ridge Elementary principal, Deborah Coulson, encourages teachers to integrate a variety of technology. She regularly praises the efforts of her teachers when they try new ways to integrate technology in the classroom. Recently, she hosted a faculty meeting where teachers had time to show and tell different tools they were using in their classrooms. Each teacher took 5-10 minutes to showcase the chosen tool. Then staff members were encouraged to set a goal to use one of the tools highlighted during the meeting. The presenting teachers offered to be mentors for their chosen tool, if anyone required additional support.

Spring Digital Learning Conference - March 5th!

Please join us for the spring Digital Learning Conference on Saturday March 5th at the BCTAL. The morning will begin with a campus share-out session where teachers and administrators from each campus will spotlight and describe an example of powerful digital learning happening at their campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk around and look at these exemplars and talk about the lesson design and technology tools with the teachers.

After this, there will be two break-out sessions for teachers and administrators to attend with an ending keynote and fabulous door prizes at noon. These sessions are all designed around the BISD Digital Learning Platform to provide resources for relevant technology integration that align with and support the district's Learning Platform.

There will also be a special prize awarded for the campus

with the most staff attending the conference!

BISD Loves Learning 2016 Twitter Challenge

It's all about growing and having that learner's mindset and it all kicks off tonight with a Twitter Chat. Then beginning Monday Feb. 15th we will begin the 2016 BISD Loves Learning Slow Twitter Chat by posting the first question. To participate in the challenge, just tweet your answer and any pictures, videos or links and be sure to include the #bisddlp. You can tweet as many responses to each week's question. On Friday of each week in February, we will announce Twitter Challenge participate winners. Fridays will also continue to be our BISD Shines Twitter slow chat share day.

Elementary Tip of the Week: EduTyping and My Story Book Creator

EduTyping is a web based application designed for teaching keyboarding in grades K-5 and can be accessed from any Internet-ready computer. Curriculum includes Course Lessons, Reinforcement, Timed Writings, and In the News.
My Story Book Creator is a storytelling app located in our BISD App Catalog. It is a great way to promote literacy, comprehension and creative thinking. This app can be used in all content areas to display learning.
