Shout Out!
Thank you to everyone who stuck it out last week in our A-Team. It was the hottest one we've had, and we were doing lots of good work! (Thankfully, the a/c was quickly fixed!!)
Business
New Business:
- The RtI Triangles-- To clarify, we are going to use small post-it notes (movable and removable) to "fill in" what we know on our charts in terms of data sources and types of intervention tools available. The goal is to identify holes and brainstorm solutions as needed. These do not have to be done with your BLT. You could meet with your school psychs, counselors, or other building RtI members to discuss; however, it's important building principals are involved and informed about what each element is. We will go over these on 10/18.
- DLT / BLT Survey-- Please review this survey that I would like sent to BLT members (ALL BLT members) in the next couple of weeks. All the criteria come directly from our DLT Plan. This will help us during DLT as we think about revising our plan.
- Reminder-- If you haven't already, don't forget to complete your Board Updates
Old Business:
- Book Study-- We agreed to read Ch. 3, 5, and 11 by 10/18 A-Team
Data, Data, Data
On Friday, I shared some additional state test reports with you. Below are a few additional sources, and my recommendations for using them. Some are just for your review, some should be shared with teachers...
Where are they?
gDrive --> Data --> 16-17 Testing --> Item Analyses
*You all should have access to the Data folder where I store all our district data files. If you do not, let me know so I can add you. Add it to your own drive for easiest access.
What does it show?
These are available for all contents EXCEPT ELA. Reports show exact question # from Spring, 2017 test questions, the standard statement to which it was aligned, the amount of points tied to the question, and the % of kids who scored 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 points (multiple points are rare).
How do we use it?
These should be shared with teachers. See below for additional instructions.
How do we use Item Analyses?
Because they are based on last year's student performance, they are not helpful for individual students, but they are helpful for instructional / programmatic implications.
- Teachers should look for and reflect on standards on which students performed poorly. When common assessments are available, teachers can track how students perform on the standard throughout the year.
- Teachers should look at the Spring, 2017 released test items in the Student Practice Test portal. They can align questions to standards in the document to see HOW standards are assessed -- to what extent and in what way? This analysis should inform classroom assessments.
Where are they?
In the Data Folder. Organized by students' CURRENT grade.
What does it show?
Key information in these reports is on PAGE 2. This shows the individual student's performance in subscore areas as well as "What These Results Mean" and "Next Steps" based on OCBA test performance.
How do we use it?
These should be shared with teachers and RtI Committees. See below for additional instruction
How do we use Individual Student Reports?
Although they are based on last year's performance, they are helpful for providing individualized interventions.
- If you have added the folders to your own Drive, you can search for a student's name in your Drive search box to find the documents (documents are named by SSID, not student names, but searching will search through the document for you).
- Teachers should look up struggling students and use the parent-focused "Next Steps" section for classroom ideas. RtI committees can use them for intervention guidance.
