PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
I hope everyone had a great week back to school after Thanksgiving break! The time is flying by at Kerby and report cards will be distributed on Tuesday. The partnership between parents and the school community help us to create a successful learning environment for all students. We are all a work in progress. Continue to focus on the strengths of your learners and celebrate their growth academically, socially, and emotionally since the beginning of the school year. The leaders and learners at Kerby are working hard to meet their goals for 2019-20 school year.

School Pick-Up and Drop Off Reminders
- Upper and lower wing back doors lock at 8:25 AM. Do not drop off your child if you no longer see the classes standing outside.
- If you arrive late, walk with your child to the front doors on Kerby Rd. and ring the bell. All students must be signed in by a parent if they arrive after 8:25 AM.
- Parking on Beaupre is ONLY for kindergarten parents who have a current parking pass. From Kerby to Touraine on Beaupre is a NO PARKING ZONE for parents who did not purchase a kindergarten pass.
- No parking in the drop off zone (yellow curb on Beaupre and cut out on Kerby Road) between the hours of 8 to 9 A.M. and 3 to 4 P.M.
- When using using the drop off areas pull forward to allow other cars to enter behind you.
- Use crosswalks to ensure safety. Beaupre & Belanger are not crosswalks
- Parents do not enter the building with their child and accompany them to their classroom in the mornings. When there is an indoor admittance day due to rain or cold temperatures, please do not wait inside with your children. We have adult supervision present, and too many bodies make for an over congested and unsafe environment.
- Please do not let your children walk through the staff parking lot.
- Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Kerby safe during drop off and pick up!

Kerby Kudos
- Congratulations to Mrs. Magill and Mrs. Albrecht on a successful Wintersgiving concert. It takes an extreme attention to detail and organization to successfully implement an elementary school concert and they did a fantastic job keeping the show running smoothly. It was a wonderful celebration of the holiday season and fantastic way to connect with our community. Well done!
- Shout out to Mrs. Valgoi's class for spreading "KINDNESS CHEER" throughout the building with their kindness posters.
OFFICE NEWS
- Kerby students go outdoors for recess two times each day throughout the school year unless it is raining hard or the wind chill is below zero degrees. Please be sure that your child leaves for school dressed properly for the weather. All students must have boots and snowpants to play on the wood chips, gaga ball court, or playfield once the snow is on the ground—otherwise they must stay on the blacktop. Students should NOT throw snow or ice while on Kerby grounds. This will help all the students enjoy the joy of snow. We also ask that you write your child’s name on his/her gloves, hats, boots, and coat. Our Lost and Found quickly fills up!
- Monday – A student is marked tardy if they arrive after 9:10 AM, but before 10:00 AM for AM instruction or after 12:26 PM, but before 1:35 PM for PM instruction. A student is marked absent if they arrive after 10:00 AM in the AM, or after 1:35 in the PM

LEADER IN ME
GREEN TEAM
Entertaining: When planning holiday festivities, make it easy for guests to recycle at gatherings. Use plates, pitchers, glasses and cutlery that can be washed and re-used. Avoid plastic tablecloths and use washable ones instead.
Gift Wrapping: Wrap gifts in re-used materials. If every family reused just two feet of holiday ribbon and wrapped just 3 presents in re-used materials, the 38,000 miles of ribbon saved could tie a bow around the entire planet and it would save enough paper to cover 45,000 football fields! Find materials to re-use like magazine pages or newspapers, consider creative packaging in tins and boxes and avoid plastic bows.
