A Note from Mrs. Cengel / Un mensaje de la Sra. Cengel
Greetings Oak Terrace Families,
We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy! The end of the school year is almost upon us. And though this is not how any of us imagined us to be spending our last couple of weeks together, we do plan on doing everything we can to make it engaging and meaningful for our students. Each teacher and grade level is working on putting together some fun end of the year activities for their students. They will be communicating those out to parents shortly, so please stay tuned!
If you were not able to watch the BOE meeting live this Tuesday, I highly encourage you to watch the recording of the meeting on our website. Dr. Lubelfeld, along with Dr. Colin, and Dr. Ryan, shared some great updates about E-Learning in our district, our summer school programming, and some thoughts about a return to school in the fall. We know that many of you have asked about what a return to school would look like in the fall. Unfortunately, this is an uncertain time and we do not have all those answers right now. Dr. Lubelfeld expects to be able to share a plan for re-entry at the June 30 Board Meeting. We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to navigate this unprecedented situation.
The district is also working on a plan for retrieval of student belongings from the building. We will communicate this plan as soon as it is finalized but please be aware that we do not anticipate this happening before the end of the school year.
As a reminder, Monday, May 25 is a holiday. There will not be any E-Learning activities assigned on that day. We hope you enjoy the long weekend!
As always, please reach out with questions.
Best regards,
Amy Cengel

Saludos cordiales,
Amy Cengel

Celebrating our 5th Graders
We have been working hard behind the scenes to put together some plans to celebrate our 5th grade students. As we mentioned, there will be a celebratory video that will be released to all families on Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 PM. This pre-recorded video will include some parting words from our teachers and admin team, a montage of pictures from our students’ time at Oak Terrace, and a special dance celebration with special guests from across the district . We encourage you to watch this together as a family!
Mrs. Cengel has also been meeting regularly with the 5th grade Students in Action Committee to get their input about what THEY want to do to celebrate their last weeks at Oak Terrace. The 5th grade team used these ideas to put together some fun activities during the last week of school. Click HERE to see the schedule for their last week at OT.
And finally, our PTO has also been busy delivering yard signs and T-shirts to all of our 5th grade students. Parents- once you get yours, please take a picture of your child by the sign and send them to Mrs. Cengel (acengel@nssd112.org) by Friday, May 29. We want to flood social media with pictures of our students!
