Week of September 14th: News, Links & Updates
I'd like to give a shout out to Senior Audrey, who, in the face of adversity, is committed to her education and uses her self-advocacy skills to improve her ability to learn without distraction.
I want to shout out Raymond who has shown consistent motivation in class and has made great use of Office Hours to get help.
Please remember to submit a help ticket, when you have a tech question/issue.
This way, you can have multiple people looking at your tech question/issue and working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Using the Help Desk also ensures that the tech helper with the most knowledge in your area of concern is able to assist you.
Your JHS Site Techs
All schools are now able to distribute meals for children under 18 no matter which school they attend. No ID is required to pick up food. Families can pick up meals for any child under 18 years old in their household, whether or not the child is present for meal pickup.
Tuesday packet includes breakfast and lunch for 3 days.
Friday packet includes breakfast and lunch for 2 days.
UCSF's Center for Science, Education & Outreach will be holding our annual MAP to College event online this month!
Wednesday, September 23rd & Thursday, September 24th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm we will be holding information sessions through zoom on a webinar platform. The flyer is attached to this email and you can register via this link.
Families with questions about college preparation, applications,financial aid, and educational options post-high school will find a wealth of knowledge at our two-day event.
A friendly reminder that as your EAOP coordinator onsite, students can always sign up to meet one-on-one with me to discuss personal goals.

Skyline College will be having weekly Financial Aid labs every Monday (1:30-2:30) and Thursday (4:30-5:30). See description below!
Need assistance with getting started or completing your Financial Aid Application? Learn more information on applying for the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), the California Dream Act Application, California College Promise Grant, and Scholarships to receive free money for college. Skyline college will be having weekly Financial Aid Labs via Zoom every Monday and Thursday.

Priya Talreja is the Outreach Chair for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UC Davis. This Fall, SWE is hosting a 10-week long mentorship program to support female and non-binary high school seniors who are interested in applying to engineering majors. There will be weekly sessions with UC Davis College of Engineering advisors, faculty, current students, and alumni, as well as smaller group mentorship sessions with current engineering students to help answer questions and provide individualized support. The program will run from September 24th to November 22nd and is open to high school seniors who identify as female or non-binary.
