Halloween is a holiday that originated from the Irish! It is a celebration of the dead. It was believed that ghosts would freely roam aound earth on that day. People would leave treats in front of their doors in order to keep the ghost happy. In addition, costumes allowed them to escape from the spirits so that they wouldn’t recognize them. It is interesting to see how modern times have taken this Halloween tradition and twisted it into something different today.
