Barnes & Noble Music Performance

Final Details Regarding Barnes and Nobel Saturday, Dec. 7 Performance:

  • Chinese students will perform beginning at 11:00. Please have students at Barnes & Nobel by 10:45.
  • Fourth grade students will perform following the Chinese groups. Mrs. Debbie Miller, music teacher is planning for a 12:00 musical performance. She would like 4th grade students at Barnes & Nobel by 11:45.
  • Parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their own children at Barnes & Nobel.
  • We understand December is a very busy month. Families have obligations and commitments. It is OK if your child can't attend. This is not mandatory. It is great fun, but not mandatory. I will be out of town at my niece's wedding, so unfortunately, I will not be in attendance.

Edgelea T-shirts and Sweatshirts

Last Chance! Edgelea is offering low-cost and affordable t-shirts and sweatshirts starting at only $5.00. This is not a fundraiser. We simply want to offer affordable shirts for families for the holidays. You may order online until Monday, Dec. 9. We will make special arrangements with you for delivery if you don't want your child to see them before the holidays. Click on the link below.

A big THANK YOU to Lyle at Axiom Graphix for making this possible.

Lafayette School Corporation 2020-2021 School Calendar

The LSC school calendar has been Board approved and is available on the LSC webpage. I have included a direct link for your convenience. Please click on the link below. Our first day of school is August 10, 2020.

Fundraiser Reward Party

Our Fundraiser was a success and the entire school will celebrate! On December 12, we are in for a real treat. Matt Wilhelm is a BMX bike trickster and motivational speaker. He inspires kids to be confident, caring, and kind. Matt advanced to the semi finals on America's Got Talent and he actually won America's Got Talent YouTube Competition and Fox TV's 30 Seconds to Fame contest.

Reading Success !!

Every student in our school, kindergarten-4th grade, is expected to read for a period of 20 minutes nightly. The research shows that reading 15 minutes-30 minutes each night will help your child be a more proficient reader and will be much more successful in school. This is so very important that we are asking parents to sign their child's reading logs each week. Educating your child is one of the most important jobs we have and we must collaborate on this in order to make the most gains. We can not do this huge job without your continued help and support.

Third Grade IREAD- 3

IREAD-3 is a test that is required by state law. This test measures reading skill of third grade students. Students who do not pass IREAD-3 in the spring will have an opportunity for remediation and are able to retest after the end of school. It is very important that your child spend time reading each evening in order for them to be best prepared for this upcoming March 2019 test.

Students who do not pass the spring and summer administrations of IREAD-3 will continue to receive instruction in Grade 3 reading, will officially be reported as a third grader, and will fully participate in the Grade 3 ILEARNassessment. There are some exemptions to this law. If you would like to know more about IREAD-3, please visit the Indiana Department of Education website:

Edgelea Needs Kids Clothing Donations

We are going through kids clothing and winter gear rapidly. We are still in need of donations of winter coats, mittens, boys and girls jeans and sweat pants.

If your children are in need of a winter coat, please notify our front office and we will get them taken care of!

Outdoor Recess Guidelines

Outdoor recess periods will be observed each day unless the temperature or windchill drops below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or in inclement weather. We do go outdoors if it is snowing and the temperature is 20 or above. Please make sure your children are prepared for the weather by wearing appropriate clothing, boots, hats, and gloves. We know this time of year can be a financial stain on families. If your child needs a new hat or gloves, we have extras in our office. Just let Deb Davidson, school secretary know and she will take care of it. If your child has outgrown coats, boots, or winter clothing, we will gladly pass it on to other children in need.
