Journalism Class

Ready, Set, Go

The Paola Middle School Journalism Staff hit the floor running within the first few days of school. In small groups, staff members scoured through backpacks, gym bags, and lunch boxes to find items that would make the perfect journalist. Some examples of the items that were found:

Hair tie - to help them "hold it all together" when deadlines are near

gum - so their stories are always "fresh"

hand sanitizer - to help keep the story "clean"

Hawaiian shirt - their stories are always blooming

The staff has big plans for this year's book. If you haven't already, make plans now to purchase your 2022-2023 yearbook!

6th Grade Math

The last two Fridays 6th grade students were engaged in STEM activities in Math class. The first week the students were all given the same amount of spaghetti, tape, string, and a marshmallow. Their objective was to see who could build the tallest tower in 20 minutes using only those materials. Berkeley Meinig and Finley Heinrich from Mrs. Hines 1st hour built the tallest tower in the 6th grade standing at 38 inches. Way to go!

6th Grade Math Classes Breakout!

Last week the students attempted to “break out” of an online breakout room that focused on decimals, which tied back to the lessons for the week in math class. The best time for this was Declan Bean with a time of 14 minutes.

6th Grade Beginning Band Has Begun!

This year over fifty 6th grade students signed up for our Beginning Band and are already doing a fantastic job! After giving everyone time to try the different instruments and pick a favorite, this week we’ve started teaching everyone the basics of how to play. The next generation Pride of Paola Panther Band is already off to a great start!
