Two Are Better Than One
Dear Friends
This past weekend Fremont Presbyterian sent over 80 volunteers to help renovate and prep the Compassion Village site and Recourse center! Everything from clearing out the upstairs classrooms to repainting the outside. Fremont caught the service bug and helped make a HUGE dent.
The building will be used as a resource center on the bottom floor and temporary housing on the top floor. This is where the Compassion Village vision and E49's vision come together. In E49's vision these centers around the community are called "Hope Centers". Each Hope Center within a community will look different based on the needs in that community. In this building (so far) we will have Highland Charter School providing vocational training and completion of high school diplomas. We will also have at least one fully operational business and food distribution to give work to the residents and to provide sustainability to the project. And finally, we will have advocates working to connect residents to resources.
We have been working long and hard here at E49 to partner in making Compassion Village all that it is and are so thankful for all the volunteers that have been helping make it all happen! If it wasn't for your donations we would not be able to do this.
Thank you for your support,
E49 Team
E49 Mentoring
Hope Centers are the key in community development and it takes the entire community coming together to make it happen! Each Hope Center will reflect the needs that the community has. For example, one Hope Center may be focused on providing food needs via a restaurant and a community garden while another Hope Center may have a day care to provide jobs and free up parents to have a job. The secret in making these Hope Centers a reality is the pulling together of civic, business, nonprofit, and the church all working together in their own communities filling the need together.

REP Housing
It has been our pleasure working with the Compassion Village project! We have been the glue between St.Paul's and Compassion Village. Through our partnership with the local church, business, and non profit organizations we have been able to help facilitate the builds and the land. This past weekend Fremont Presbyterian helped in the renovation of the recourse center and man does it look great! There is still much to do and we would love your help! Next steps include finishing the renovation of the recourse center and beautifying the rest of the property.

Meet Matt Dunn
Matt is one of our rock star volunteers! He was one of the featured panelists at the breakfast we had last week on Compassion Village. As he said during that breakfast, "Most people like to work with their hands to help get work done. I like working with my hands too, well specifically my fingers as they type away at a keyboard." Matt is helping us with our online presence. Thank you Matt!
