Updates from Yates

A Message from Your School Superintendent | 7-16-21

Dear Families,

Much is going on right now at LCSD! We have over 400 students participating in summer school. (Thank you to the teachers, staff, and coordinators who are ensuring kids are learning and laughing after a challenging year!) The LHS track, enjoyed by many community residents as well as our student athletes, is getting needed upgrades. And many of our district staff members continue to work and plan for a successful 2021-2022 school year.

We know that many of you are also looking ahead to fall with some questions about what that will look like. We expect to fully reopen schools to full-day, five-day, in-person learning. However, some COVID-19 safety measures may remain in place based on state or federal requirements. We will continue to partner with public health officials, follow ODE's updated guidance, and weigh the options that are ours to make at a local level.

By early August, we will increase our communication with families and students about what to expect, including a district decision on mask wearing.

A reminder that registration for fall reopens online on August 2. Santiam Academy (formerly Lebanon Online), is LCSD's new, K-8 online school for families who would like to take advantage of at-home learning provided by local educators and staff.

Sincerely,

Bo Yates
