Fairmount - Where Effort Leads to Excellence.

Important Notes

* As you know, I was out several days last week. I think the kids handled it better than I did!!!! Please praise your child for their great effort in showing their PRIDE.

* There will be several District Assessments this week.

* I will be out on December 21st in the afternoon.

Classroom Gojo

We use Classroom Dojo as our behavior management system. Students will be recording their daily points on their Pride Calendar. The Pride Calendar should be coming home daily in the blue folder.

* Please consider signing up for Classroom Dojo. You will be able to see your child's daily progress.


On Friday, we are having a READ IN/Prodigy Day. I have to give several students the reading test. While I am testing, students may enjoy their favorite books or magazines and play prodigy on the class computers. Students should bring in their favorite munchies and a "seal-able drink."

On Monday, December 21, the entire 4th Grade is having a "Movie Event." We will be showing a variety of movies. Students will sign up for the movie of their choice. Students may bring in munchies and a "seal-able drink." PERMISSION SLIPS FOR THE PG MOVIES WILL COME HOME!!!!


Students should be reading, studying spelling words, completing some of the Math Topic Study Guide and studying math facts each evening.

Curriculum Notes

Reading: We will be discussing main idea and comparing non fiction and historical fiction texts.

Writing: In writing, we will finish writing our literary essay.

Spelling: Spelling List 16. Silent letters - ph and gh. Test is Friday.

Math: In Math, we finish Topic 8. The test is on Tuesday, December 15th. We will start Topic 9 which addresses division. THE TOPIC 9 TEST WILL BE AFTER THE HOLIDAY BREAK.

Due Dates

  • The Topic 8 Math Study Guide is due December 15th.
  • The December Reading Calendar is due on December 22nd.
  • Copies of the Topic Study Guide are on our class website so you can download extra copies as needed. Check out the Math link.


Your child should do 4 book reports per quarter. It does not matter if they are fiction or nonfiction. Students must have 12 fiction and 6 nonfiction by the end of the school year. Any Mark Twain Book that a student reads and submits to Mrs. Hendricks counts as a book report. I do not have forms. I accept anything from book talks to posters to powerpoint presentations. GET CREATIVE!

  • Students will be using their Google Accounts. Their email address will be: first name initial, last name, last 3 digits of student number @ g,
  • ex. sfoster456@g, The password is: fh student number ex. fh123456
  • Students do not have email accounts. The email is used just for a username.
