Goochland Middle School's SOL testing Early Release Days are scheduled for Friday, May 19, and Friday, May 26.
Please read through the GMS SOL Letter to prepare your student for a successful testing day.

Middle School Intersession Courses
- French Cuisine 101
- Come cook and indulge in French cuisine with Ms. Tynes and Ms. Johnson. Students will dish up delicious desserts like crêpes to savory dishes like ratatouille. Bon appétit!
- The Great Escape
- Do you like solving cryptic puzzles, finding hidden clues, accomplishing unique tasks, and working as a team? Come and challenge your mind to think outside the box as your problem solving skills are tested in new ways. You will work together to create your own escape room using your new critical thinking skills and knowledge. Will you escape or be stuck with us for the summer?
- The Game of Life
- This life skills program will teach about applying daily living skills, social skills, job skills, health and nutrition, community awareness and money management. Learning life skills will help students understand who they are and what they want out of life. This in turn will create a better future for themselves and for the world around them.
- ExploreVA
- Wanna take day trips to see amazing things Virginia has to offer? ExploreVA will allow students to research various places in Virginia and learn through exploration.
- Helping Hands
- Join us for a fun filled, four-day community service camp. Helping Hands provides students with volunteer hours as they travel to local community non-profits. Students will learn the importance of giving back and teamwork. These experiences can be used for resume building, college applications, and fulfilling community service hours for school clubs and organizations. We are Helping Hands!
School Required Immunizations Clinic on 5/22 in the GHS Learning Commons, 12:30 - 3:00pm
GCPS will hold a vaccine clinic for school-required immunizations on Monday, May 22nd, during afternoon school hours for rising 7th and 12th graders. The Tdap Booster, Meningococcal (MenACYW), and HPV vaccines will be administered in the GHS Learning Commons between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. (NOTE: HPV is recommended but not required for school attendance). Parents do not need to be present but will need to provide written consent for the vaccination to occur.
Please complete this Vaccination Pre-registration form by Thursday, May 18th, if you are interested in your child attending the vaccine clinic. With the exception of HPV, these vaccines are required prior to the first day of 7th and 12th grades.

GMS course recommendations and request sheets for the 23.24 School Year
The GMS course recommendations and request sheets were mailed home to current 6th and 7th grade families this week. Within the envelope, you will find a letter and form to return to your student’s current school counselor the week after spring break.
Please confirm that your student’s course sheet has a total of 8 “primary” credits: an English, Math, Science, and History course, and electives. There may also be “alternate” electives. Please write directly on the form any concerns, such as missing a class, too many, or too little credits, etc.. The GMS counselors will make all adjustments as needed before the start of the 23-24 school year.
Family Life Education - Please review the following forms, sign and return them to your student's PE Teacher IF you wish for your child to be opted out of the program. Family Life Education will be pushed back to the month of May. Specific dates will be shared in the upcoming weeks.

* Students whose iPads are out for a fix or repair will not count towards this loaner limit.
8th Grade Events
As a reminder, permission slips and payment are due in the coming weeks.
- Dance permission and payment are due by Friday, 5/12 for the 5/19 dance.
- Busch Gardens permission and payment are due by Friday, 5/19 for the 6/7 trip.
May 19, 2023: 8th Grade Dance (7-9pm)
June 2, 2023: Moving on Ceremony (9:15am)
June 6, 2023: Busch Gardens Field Trip (8:15am - to approximately 7:00pm)

- Click on SIGN UP TODAY
- Enter your zip code and find your favorite store, enter email and password.
- You will receive a confirmation email with a link. Click on the link and then click on “My Account”
- Click on Edit Kroger community Rewards and enter the number on the back of your Kroger Card or the phone number associated with the card. (I have extra Kroger Cards if you need one)
Step 2 - Enroll
At the bottom of the screen Click “Enroll Now”

Select Goochland Middle School
Step 3 - Shop
Every time you shop at Kroger and use your card you earn money for Goochland Middle School.
Step 4 - Repeat
Each year, you will need to re-register your Kroger card.

We are excited to share a new partnership with the YMCA and Feed More.
Feed More's Market Bus will make stops each week at alternating locations including Byrd, Randolph, and the YMCA. The Market Bus will provide free fruits, vegetables, and other food items for free to children in need. A few things to note with the bus...
- The bus is only for children ages 6-18.
- Children must accompany the parent/adult. Only children are allowed to go onto the bus to shop. Parents/adults will not be allowed on the bus. (This is Feed More's policy.)
- The bus does not require any proof of income etc. to shop the bus.
GCPS is accepting applications for preschool for the 2023-2024 school year
Goochland County Public Schools is accepting applications for preschool for the 2023-2024 school year! Goochland has preschool classrooms at each of its three elementary schools. These preschool programs are full-day programs and transportation to and from school is provided. Our preschool programs at Byrd Elementary School are for three- and four-year-olds. Our preschool programs at Randolph and Goochland Elementary Schools are for four-year-olds. You can apply for preschool using this online application. Little Miss and Miss Goochland Pageant
Goochland Cheerleading is excited to announce that they will host the Little Miss and Miss Goochland Pageant on Friday, May 12th in the GHS auditorium. The application deadline is Friday, May 5th.
