*Please have students visit Mrs. Janek, if they have a damaged book

*There are no fines but students won't be able to check out a book if they have an overdue one

*Please remind students to return to class if the lights are off

Library Volunteer Meeting

There will be a volunteer meeting in the library on September 9th from 12:00 to 12:30. This is for any volunteers who would like to help on a regular basis at school. If parents ask you, some of the things they help with are: shelving books, laminating, and projects.

Atriuum-Online Catalog

Teachers can access the library's online catalog from their classrooms. If you need help with this, please don't hesitate to ask.

Professional Library

We are excited to let you know that some Safari Magazines have been added to our guided reading library. Many teachers had commented last year that these are great for using in small groups. They also come with a teacher resource guide.

Also, if you received any professional books this summer from the staff development sessions you attended, please bring them to the library so they can be bar-coded. Then they will be checked right back out to you.

Birthday Book Club

The Birthday Book Club is a way for parents to celebrate their child's birthday and at the same time help build our school library by purchasing a book for their child. Once the book is purchased, a nameplate will be placed in the front of the book and the book will be checked out to the student for a normal loan period. Then their picture will be placed on the book club bulletin board. Forms will be placed in teacher's mailboxes next week. Please send these home in Tuesday folders. When students return the forms, please place them in my mailbox or bring them to the library. Parents and students can find additional forms on the library website or on the birthday club bulletin board.

Last year we raised $1190 for the library. Thank you for your help and support!

BookFlix is a digital literacy resource that pairs fiction and nonfiction books together. We are checking into getting this for our school. In the meantime, we have received a 30 day free trial. Below is the temporary username and password.

Digital Resources

The 83rd Texas Legislature provided funds for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to re-establish statewide digital resources for K-12 public schools and open enrollment charter schools. Access began on June 15, 2014.

Our district is participating in this program and has access to the following elementary online reliable resources:

  • Britannica School-Elementary Encyclopedia
  • Kids InfoBits
  • National Geographic

These resources can be found on the library webpage under research.
