Principal's Notes and Highlights
Funny Friday!
Teachers are famous for having elaborately decorated bulletin boards. We even have one in the staff lounge that we rotate with different themes. One of the many qualities I love about our staff is that we don't take each other too seriously. Last year, a theme was "Photo Ops" and Mr. Shipley had photoshopped staff members into different pictures. Most were inside jokes, but you don't need to know the story to appreciate the humor. I've included a couple for you to enjoy.
You know who else is funny? Your children. The current bulletin board theme captures some of the more hilarious things your children have said over the last few weeks. I'm not going to share names of students with you, but I'm sure you will wonder if it was your child (insert hand over face emoji). Just know, we love them and they crack us up!
Kids Say the Darndest Things
"Mr. Wright, you have such a round body. I can't give you a suffocating hug!" - 4th grader
"Mrs. Cash, is it the twenty-tooth?" "No, Honey it's the twenty-second."-1st grader
"I look like my boyfriend just broke up with me because I'm eating Thin Mints and wearing a baggy sweatshirt." -6th grader
As she thumps her chest with her fist, "Mr. Findley, my name is ____, but you can call me The Mongoose". -1st grader
"Mrs. Cash, when ________ accidentally ran into me in the gym my head snapped in half!" -1st grader
While in Art watching a video about how to draw a baby seal, a kindergarten student said "Guys, I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be Hillary Clinton."
"Last night I turned into a pig and my right arm got cut off". -4th grader
Miss Cook: "___, What are you doing? Aren't you going to Math Bowl?"
6th grader "No, I'm not doing Math Bowl."
Miss Cook: "What?! Why didn't you tell me?"
6th grader: "I thought it was implied by the lack of permission slip...(duh)."
While Mr. Shipley was trying to be serious, "Mr. Shipley, I just can't take you seriously...your hair!" -1st grader
At PM car line a 1st grader grabs Mr. Findley's hand and says "Mr. Findley, your hand is warm. Did you sleep in or something?"
"Mrs. Cash, How do you spell BCSC?" -1st grader
While sorting students between two tables for my small group in Mrs. Cash's class,
1st grade girl: "Why am I at this table? Am I in trouble or something?"
Mr. Findley: "No, you're not in trouble. You're just working at that table today."
1st grade girl: "Did I do something wrong? What, did you catch me smoking cigarettes in the hallway?"
Mr. Findley: "Uh..."
Have a great weekend,
Brett
