New Tech Seniors tackle a Humbling Project
In this project, students were given a Newcomer Academy student to partner with. Our students wrote a Country Analysis Report over their partners’ home country. They then travelled to Newcomer Academy to conduct an interview over the life of the student. Today, those students were invited to Scottsburg High School. Our students took their analysis reports and the reflection essays that they wrote and put them into an interactive iBook. We shared these stories with the Newcomer students in the Media Center. We presented these in the form of a Book Club; we had coffee, donuts, and juice. Our students just wanted to share their iBook, play games, and talk to each other. They were visited by the French and Spanish classes, as well as administrators. During third period, we broke into groups and dispersed around the school. Some groups toured the school, some groups went to specific classes, and others went to the gym, but there were smiles all around. Our students were proud and humbled with this entire process, stating that they learned so much more than simply content. They learned respect, trust, and friendship.
Honoring the team that inspired the "Pressure Cooker"!
Christmas Cheer & a "W"
December 13th the Warriorettes played the Mitchell Lady Blue Jackets in the Indiana National Guard "Go Guard" uniforms! The Warriorettes beat the Lady Blue Jackets in both the JV (Final Score 41-38) & Varsity games (Final Score 58-34!)
The Man in the Big Red Suit made a special visit too!
Cheer Block & Cheerleaders Show Exceptional Character!
After all the excitement is over, the team leaves the floor and the crowds clear out...our exceptional Cheer Block & Cheerleaders helped clean up the bleachers!
THANK YOU!
Great Opportunity for Students Interested in the Medical Field
Scott Memorial Hospital is hosting a Medical Explorers program for students interested in learning more about professions in the healthcare field. The Medical Explorers program will be held during the school day from 1:45 - 3:15pm on the following days: April 2, 6,16 and 23. Students selected for the program will not be counted absent as this is a job shadowing opportunity. Students selected would still be responsible for the school work missed while attending the Medical Explorers program.
There are only a certain number of slots available for this program. While sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to apply, seniors will be given first priority. A committee of Scott Memorial employees, county school counselors and school nurses will be making the student selections for this program. The process will be competitive.
Any sophomores, juniors and seniors who are interested in filling out an application can pick one up in the SHS Guidance Office or check their gmail account for an email from Mrs. Mount.
All completed applications must be turned in by 3pm on Dec. 17 to the SHS Guidance Office.
