More Important Information

I know...I have been flooding you with all kinds of information, but there are so many things you need to know about this class. Please scroll down and read all of the information I have included,

The reason I am using this format to send out information (a website called is because not only does it make nice flyers and such, but also they display nicely on a smart phone. Try it, it should look nice on your phone too!

Taking Tests With Me

Here is some information that might come in handy for you. When you come to the college to take your tests with me, I will allow you to use a calculator AND one page with any notes that you may want to have (front and back).

Lesson Due Reminders From Hawkes

I want you to know that there is a setting within Hawkes, that I chose, so that it will send you a reminder when a lesson is just about due. This will come to you automatically and arrive in your email box within the Hawkes program. This is a different email than the one I use to communicate with you (your email). Please do not respond to me regarding these due date reminders. Also, please do not use Hawkes to email me. I don't always get on Hawkes every day, so the email may sit there for many days. Always use my address when you want to email me.

And Speaking Of Email...

I want to remind you, again, to please make sure you check your email every day. If I contact you, it will be via your TMCC email account. This information will be important, and many times it may require your immediate attention. Also, please delete unimportant stuff from your inbox. You only have a limited amount of space and occasionally when I try to email a student, it comes back as “undeliverable” because the inbox is full. This leaves me with no way of contacting you.

Have You Done This Yet????

This may not apply to all of you but some of you still haven't done some of the first things you were supposed to do. If there are any of the following that you haven't done yet...DO THEM NOW!

*email me to establish our communication

*complete the Online Student Questionnaire

*enroll in my Hawkes grade book

*take the Pretest on Hawkes

*start certifying lessons

In case you were wondering about the quizzes, you will find them under WEBTEST in Hawkes. The quizzes are intended to be reviews for the tests. You can take each quiz as many times as you like until you are satisfied with your grade (and you feel ready for the test). Hawkes will record the highest score you received. You must take the quiz at least once before I allow you to take the test for that chapter, so make sure you have done that before you come to take a test. You will find that the test is very similar to the quiz.

One Last Thing (For Now)

Your first test deadline is approaching faster than you think. Even though you still have a little time, I will explain what you will need to do as the deadline for the test approaches. You will need to contact me (well in advance) to set up an appointment to take the test (here at TMCC). If you take the test after the deadline, you will be penalized 10% for each day until you take it. That will really hurt your grade, so make sure you set up a time with me to take it no later than the deadline. The times that work best for me are for you to start and complete the test within the timeframe of 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (Monday through Thursday of each week). If you absolutely need a different time, contact me as soon as possible so we can make arrangements.

Good Luck! And don't hesitate to cantact me if you have questions or need help.
