Williamson HS Newsletter - Back-to-School Edition
Greetings Williamson Families!
There are so many new faces in the building this year between our large freshman class, new entrants, and new staff. It is great to see the hallways so full.
Throughout the year we will be sharing how we will transition to our new PRIDE motto and how students, staff and our school community can show the traits of:
P erseverance
R esponsibility
I ntegrity
D ignity
E xcellence
We have recently approved a new Code of Conduct, and some of the staff and parents from the committee will be developing a shortened, friendly version that is quick and easy to understand. The full document is on our website.
We are growing in our work with Schoology, and know that when we are open for parent viewing you will be so happy with the accessibility and ease of use. This will replace SchoolTool as your go-to for day-to-day grades. There is a link to Schoology information below.
We want to take the time to share some of our new staff with you. We are very proud of our new hires and know they are going to exemplify 'Doing what's right for children.'
Jessica Panepento has joined our Special Education department and pushes into Living Environment and English 9 and is teaching a section of algebra. She is a Geneseo and Nazareth graduate.
Kelly Petrucci joins our main office staff and has a great deal of experience in social work and volunteerism. She will be a great support to our students, staff, and school community.
Alex Casper is a SUNY Brockport grad and will be our building substitute. He is also certified in Social Studies and Special Education.
Emily Robinson is a Fredonia and Brockport graduate who comes to our English department. She has taught previously at the Rochester Academy Charter School and at Warsaw and worked as an advocate in the juvenile justice system. She will be teaching English 10 and 12.
Jennifer Hunt will be joining our Special Education department soon and will be the teacher in our RISE classroom. She graduated from D'Youville and Roberts Wesleyan and taught previously at WFL BOCES and School 7.
Danielle Murphy will be teaching Living Environment and Environmental Science later this month. She graduated from Alfred with a degree in Biology/Equestrian Studies and earned her Master's degree from Roberts Wesleyan. She comes to us from Villa of Hope.
We look forward to seeing you at Open House on September 20th from 6-8pm. Please reach out to us any time, and thank you for sharing your children with us.
Sincerely, Dr. Avery and Miss Chaya

Chromebook Insurance Available!
Our Chromebook one-to-one initiative continues to transform Williamson's classrooms! Our students are increasingly able to access recent information, create content and work together. The 2018-2019 school year will be the fourth consecutive year of our Chromebook rollout which covers students in grades K through 12.
We are pleased to inform you that the District is partnering with Safeware insurance to offer optional insurance coverage for 12 months. Families who purchase this optional insurance will not be charged repair fees, since all repairs and shipping costs are covered in full by SafeWare (zero deductible).
Buying Chromebook insurance is optional and only for students in grades 7-12. Parents who wish to take advantage of this opportunity will sign up online directly with SafeWare during the month of September. The only payment forms accepted are credit/debit cards and the annual cost is $25.56 per Chromebook.
Please view the flyer form SafeWare that includes pricing and detailed information about how you may sign up for Chromebook insurance. Please note that you'll need the serial number for your child's Chromebook when signing up. It is located on the bottom of the Chromebook.

Relay for Life of Williamson
The Link Crew of the Williamson Central School District is hosting the Relay for Life of Williamson Central, Saturday, October 13th from 3:00-9:00 pm, on the high school track and grounds. We invite all to reach out to friends and family to form teams that will walk as a means to save lives.
The purpose of the Relay for Life of Williamson Central is to raise funds that benefit the lifesaving work of the American Cancer Society, which includes cancer research and free programming for patients, as well as having a fun, memorable experience with your team.
Not in shape for a relay? No worries, this is not a running event; it is a team relay of walking. The challenge is to have someone from your team on the track walking to celebrate accomplishments, remember those lost and fight back against this dreaded disease.
October 13th, 2018 will be another GREAT night at Williamson Central! Food, games, a chinese auction, and face painting will be just a few of the special touches that will provide as we welcome Wayne County and beyond to the Relay for Life of Williamson Central.
Ready, Set, Go-register your team today! Don’t have a team? No worries, all are welcome to come and check out the event. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to donate at the event.
