NCTA Summer Programs Available

It's not too late to enroll in the tuition-free NCTA Summer Session Programs! Incoming 9th grade students through non-graduated seniors can earn a semester credit as they explore indepth a CTE program. Students can choose form a variety of programs on several campuses from Marine Services, Aerospace Manufacturing, Veterinary, Dental, Construction and many more. Anacortes School District is a consortium member of the NCTA Skills Center which provides access for Anacortes students priority to participate! Anacortes Middle School Talent Show - June 7 at 6 p.m.

The Anacortes Middle School is looking for talented students grades 6 through 8!

Now holding auditions. Audition forms, rules, times and sign up sheets are located at the Middle School attendance window. Make sure to have your guardian sign the form before your audition.

AHS Surplus Sale

AHS will hold a surplus sale on June 23 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. as we prepare the building for demolition.

Items for sale include: desks, chairs, lockers, tables, laptops and more.

Anacortes schools have already claimed about 1/3 of the items in the building; other school districts will also have access to the items prior to the community sale. A representative from Habitat for Humanity will review items left after the community sale for possible re-use.

The sale on June 23rd is open to the public and all items are sold as is, and must be removed by the purchaser at the time of sale. This is a no-bid sale; items will be sold as priced or by best offer.

Rice Field Public Access

Did you know that Rice Field is open for community use during certain hours - including throughout the summer? Restrooms are also open during these hours.

Hours during school year:
Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. (Track and field both open)
Monday - Friday: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. (Track and field, unless field is in use by reserved group)
Sunday: Noon - 6 p.m. (Track and field both open)

Summer hours (June 18 - August 10):
Monday - Friday: 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. (Track and field both open)
Monday - Friday: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. (Track and field, unless field is in use by reserved group)
Sunday: Noon - 6 p.m. (Track and field both open)

In order to protect this community asset, we ask that users obey all posted rules, including:
- No food, glass bottles
- No pets
- No bikes, skateboards or scooters

Additional rules are posted at the facility.

Kaleidoscope Play and Learn Group - March 8 - June 7

Kaleidoscope Play & Learn© groups help families prepare their young children (birth to age 5) for success in school and life. This program, based on scientific evidence, reaches families in their neighborhoods at weekly, facilitated playgroups.

Ready to Learn Fair

The Anacortes Ready to Learn Fair will be held Saturday, August 11, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, at AMS. With new fiscal sponsorship from the Anacortes Schools Foundation, the fair provides families in need with new school supplies and other services as well as engagement with many community partners to support family life and student learning. Amplify Camp - July 10-13 - Amplify Camp is a summer camp put on by area churches for any incoming 6-8 graders at Quaker Cove here in Anacortes July 10-13th.

The Anacortes Boys and Girls Club is offering #Discover Summer every week of summer break. When you choose to #DiscoverSummer at the Boys & Girls Club, you can rely on purposeful and intentional programs and activities to engage youth of all ages. This year, each week is centered around a theme, from which all elements of engagement begin. The hours are 7 am-6 pm and the cost is $135 a week in addition to membership fees. Anacortes FIRST Robotics presents the Spring 2018 FIRST LEGO League Junior Exposition at the Anacortes Public Library on Saturday, June 2.

The event opens to the public at 2:00 pm and lasts until 4:30 pm; FLL Jr. team displays are available from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm.

Come out and see what our FLL Jr. teams (grades K-4) have learned on their AQUA ADVENTURE.

FIRST Robotics 2018-19 Sign Ups: Anacortes FIRST Robotics is now accepting advance signups for 2018-2019 FLLJr/FLL team information for elementary and middle school teams. FIRST is celebrating its 30th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the first manned mission to the moon with space-themed challenges at all levels. Teams will be starting at the beginning of the school year. Don’t let your child miss out; sign up in advance for team registration information. No obligation or commitment. APRD is pleased to announce a Girls Basketball Camp offered from June 20-22. New high school coach Nate Dunham is presenting the camp. He was recently hired so this information did not make it into our Summer Activity Guide. It’s time to rise and be your best self at Studio 1010’s yoga summer camp! Each day will include a themed yoga and art lesson (super heroes, under the big top; circus yoga, things with wings and more!) sprinkled with music, games and fun! Junior warriors will tap into their inner creativity while reaping all the benefits yoga has to offer; strength, flexibility, focus, and balance.

Ready to try lacrosse? Want to improve your lacrosse skills? Join some of the Pacific Northwest's top lacrosse coaches from CitySide lax at a FREE skills clinic sponsored by Anacortes Lacrosse Club.
