It's Almost Christmas, NWHS!
Freshman Class Update
State of the Class Address
As we inch our way, day by day, to Christmas break there are some important dates to remember. As you all may know our annual Semi-formal dance will be taking place on January 3, 2018. The dance will be from 8-11 P.M.; make sure to wear appropriate attire: no midriffs or low-cut tops. Can’t wait to see you there!
Congratulations to all the freshmen who participated in the Red Regiment! You had a great season! Hopefully you have many more to come! Also, congratulations to freshmen who are participating in winter sports! Good luck and best of wishes from the Student Council! Last but not least, good luck to freshmen participating in any of the academic teams! May you bet smarter and wiser than all other schools!
Some of you may think this is only the half way mark for school but remember, each day passing is a day closer to the end of school! May you all have very happy holidays! Stay warm and stay safe!

Food Drive Update
I am happy to announce that NWHS received a great recognition from The Student Hunger Drive this year! With help from everyone, we went from collecting 18,642 pounds of food last year, to 30,131 pounds this year. The competition also figures the average pounds per student, and we were able to achieve approximately 34 pounds/student (we received 21 last year). In both categories, total and pounds/student, we were the top school in the competition. In the six years of the Student Hunger Drive, we are the first school to do this. The NWHS Student Council would like to thank and congratulate everyone who participated in the event. The following are contributions from the whole Wanee district through special events:
-NorthWood HS One Dime at a Time and Donations through the week - $800 plus 1,953 pounds of food.
-NorthWood MS “We Scare Hunger” Campaign and Money Drive for FCDC - $700 plus 1,292 pounds of food.
-Nappanee Elem Pajama Day and Hat Day - $273 to Feed My Starving Children and $100 to FCDC
-Wakarusa Elem “One Dime at a Time Campaign Week” - $2,012.14
-Woodview Elem “One Dime at a Time” Collection - $434.05
-Through our councils work with Student Hunger Drive, we also gained an additional 971 pounds of food that will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Thank you again to everybody who helped by participating in The Student Hunger Drive this year!
- Your Class Vice President, Treyton Martin
