Principal's Newsletter

From the Desk of Ms. Clark

February 18, 2021

Dear Parents,

In the Spring, I am thrilled that we will be expanding our current school campus with the addition of our Learning Center. Our Learning Center will provide a dedicated space for Mrs. Culhane and her students as we continue to make a positive impact on the students we serve as well as give the families a peace of mind knowing that all their children and their specific learning needs are being addressed. This new space will also house our Counselor Office, Catapult Remediation Room, and our Fine Arts Music Lab.

We kicked off our Annual Fund during Catholic Schools Week, and this year's funds will support the construction of this new building. I am so excited to let you know that we received our first donation of $100,000 from an anonymous donor. This is our largest donation since we introduced SKD's Annual Fund in 2015. All proceeds will go directly towards the construction of our new building.

Finally, I ask that you please consider making a contribution. All gifts are tax-deductible. In addition to your generous support, I truly believe that you and your family share our same vision of the value of Catholic education for our children, which is why you are being asked to be a part of this group of benefactors to our Saint Katharine Drexel Annual Fund. The letter below was mailed to all parishioners of Saint Bede and Assumption BVM. Please feel free to share it with others.

On behalf of Monsignor Marine, Father Mike, Mrs. Figueroa, and our entire Board of Directors for Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School, we thank you for your support, love, generosity, and prayers.

God's blessings,

Ms. Clark

MASK CHECK

This is a good time to remind everyone to do a mask check of their kids. As the kids grow – some of their masks are getting too small – especially seen in grades 3-7. Some kids need to move away from a child size and wear an adult size – just shorten the ear ties. Noses must be covered. If their nose pokes out or over the top of the mask when talking, then the mask is not the correct size. Remember to wash the mask everyday – and each student needs a back-up mask. You are welcome to have your child wear a shield instead of the mask.

REVISED Symptom Screening Tool

All parents are primarily responsible for monitoring the health of their children. While it is our intention to remain open for the entire school year, parents are expected to do their part and keep their children home when they are sick.

Please see below for the “Revised” Symptom Monitor Checklist which is to be completed each day. By sending your child to school, you are confirming that you have completed this health screening.

Health and Safety Reminders

As cases are increasing each day within our county, I urge you to continue to take necessary precautions to limit coronavirus spread in our community.

  1. Continue with your attentiveness to washing our hands

  2. Properly wear face masks indoors and outdoors when away from home

  3. Maintain appropriate physical distance

  4. NO SLEEPOVERS

  5. No small or large social gatherings

  6. Monitor your health on a daily basis.
