i-Ready Benchmark Assessments
May 5, 2021
iREADY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DATES: 5/10/21 - 5/21/21
It is time for students to take the third iReady Diagnostic assessment of the school year. This assessment has provided teachers and support staff with valuable information about your child’s academic strengths and any areas of need. Because iReady is a flexible, rigorous, and valid tool, TVUSD will be using this final iReady assessment in lieu of CAASPP testing for 3rd - 5th graders this year. In-person students will be taking the diagnostic in their classrooms. Online students will complete the iReady diagnostic just as they have done all year.
All K-2 students will also take the iReady assessment so they can have a learning path through the summer and a benchmark to measure progress as they begin next year.
BEAT THE SUMMER SLIDE!
A learning path in reading and math is created based on each diagnostic. Students are administered the iReady test three times each year to monitor progress and adjust learning paths as students grow and develop new skills. The results of the diagnostic will allow students to continue using iReady over the summer to get ready for next year!
PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR THE iREADY DIAGNOSTIC
Since this is the final assessment of the school year, it is important that your child show their very best work. Here are a few test-taking tips:
Make sure your student has a good night’s sleep and eats a full breakfast the day of the test.
Remind your child to try their best on each question and try not to rush.
Tell your child to try not to worry about questions they do not know. Remind them that it is expected they will get about half of the questions correct. Emphasize the importance of the test, but remember to build confidence, not anxiety.
Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.

ONLINE ONLY students will take i-Ready at home.
Your child's teacher will schedule the times that their ONLINE STUDENTS takes the iReady Benchmark. It is very important that your child complete the test independently...without help from anyone else. We need to see what skills your child has mastered and which skills they need more practice with.
Would you help your child with an eye-exam? Unlikely. Why? Because the results of the eye-exam help the optometrist determine if your child needs glasses. In the same way...the results of the i-Ready diagnostic help your child's teacher determine your child's learning needs.
