USDA Waiver Options for School Food Authorities Extended Until June 30, 2021
- New! USDA has provided additional flexibility to help School Food Authorities (SFAs) wanting to implement retroactive claiming of school meals under NSLP/SBP, SSO, or SFSP until June 30, 2021.
- The decision as to which option to select rests solely on the local education authority, the need within the local school corporation, the capability of food service staff to provide quality meals, and the approvals of the state agency and local health department.
- New! Waivers are available until June 30, 2021. USDA has the right to withdraw this approval subject to availability of funds.
- Check out the revised New USDA Waiver Options for School Food Authorities Fact Sheet.
- Questions? Contact your Field Specialist.
- Check out the Re-Entry Guidance Website for more information.
- New! Join IDOE for an Updated USDA Waiver Options for School Food Authorities Part 2 webinar on Tuesday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Important! CNPweb Updates with USDA Waiver Extension
- Schools that plan to operate under SFSP or SSO this school year must update all site sheets in the SNP/purple puzzle piece. *NEW* instructions on how to properly update your site sheets for SSO, SFSP, or operating under regular NSLP can be found here.
- Schools should continue to utilize the CNPweb Help Form for assistance with the purple puzzle piece, such as with re-opening site sheets that are in pending approval or questions about errors.
- Please note that the CNPweb Help Form should not be used for questions about the blue puzzle piece/Summer Food Service Program or for questions about claims.
- For questions about Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), please reach out to your field specialist or summermeals@doe.in.gov.
- For questions about claims, please make sure you review IDOE's SSO Site Claims Instructions or reach out to scnfinance@doe.in.gov.
- Click here to access the CNPweb Help Form.
Claims and Food Distribution Program (FDP)
- Did the amount received for the school corporation’s reimbursement not match the school corporation’s claim?
- Check the Payments tab in the CNPweb to see if the school corporation had FDP invoices deducted.
- If there are FDP invoices, click on each invoice to see the itemized information.
- Questions about the FDP charges? Contact Cheryl Moore at cmoore@doe.in.gov.
- Questions about the school corporation’s claims? Contact SCNFinance@doe.in.gov.
Direct Certification and Verification
- Beginning Thursday, October 1, sponsors should have started their annual verification process.
- Verification is still required for any sponsor that approved applications for free or reduced meal benefits on or before October 1.
- This means sponsors that are currently operating SSO or SFSP are still required to conduct verification as long as they approved applications for free or reduced meal benefits on or before October 1.
- Please view the previous week's newsletter for more information on the steps of verification.
- DC is still required for schools that are implementing the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) or Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
- Please view the previous week's newsletter for more information on DC.
- Questions about DC? Use the DC/DV Help Form and check out DC website for helpful resources.
- Don't forget! IDOE is hosting a Verification Webinar Series breaking down the verification process each month. Click here for more details and to register.
